Connecting the pumping station to the well allows solving the problem of supplying water to private houses outside the city and inside the city limits. Such an operation is easy to carry out with your own hands. And we will tell you how to do it.

If there is no centralized water supply in your dacha or in a private house, this does not mean that you have to carry water in buckets. A similar problem today is solved very simply - through the arrangement of wells. Their depth can be different. Everything depends on how far from the surface of the earth lies aquifer. To create the pressure in the private water supply network necessary for the operation of sanitary facilities and appliances on a permanent basis, special well equipment is used - pumping stations.

Different versions of pumping stations

They provide uninterrupted lifting of water from wells up to 20 m deep. In addition, such equipment distributes (evenly) raised liquid between all points of its consumption in the dwelling. As a result, a private house  constantly provided with water. At least, as long as there is electricity (pumps function from electricity). But even in situations where there are irregularities in your area electric power, you will not be left without water from the well. The installation and connection of a domestic pumping station is performed only in cases when drilling is not more than 20 m deep. If the aquifers are buried in the ground below, there will be no sense from the compact pump. In such situations, a special deep-water pump should be installed. When selecting the equipment we are interested in, we should pay attention to its technical parameters and operating modes, and not just the cost of the pumping station. First of all, you need to determine the type of suction pipeline.


Pumping station

It happens:

  • ejector (in other words - two-tube);
  • single-tube.

Stations with one pipe are very simple in their construction. In them, fluid from the well enters the body of the pumping equipment used on the only available line. Installation of such an assembly with their own hands is done without problems, and quickly enough. Pumps with two pipes are more structurally more complex device. But the efficiency of its operation is several times higher and more reliable than single-pipe equipment.

In the ejector pumping station, the water is raised by a vacuum created by a special wheel. It is initially installed in the unit. The increase in the rarefaction is due to the inertia of the fluid circulating when the equipment is switched on. Due to this scheme, pumps with two pipes are always characterized by low power, while possessing a large indicator of usefulness. They are capable of lifting liquid from great depths.   Therefore, the installation of a two-pipe pumping station is recommended for depths of 10-20 m.  If the depth of the well is less than 10 m, safely place equipment with one line. It will fully cope with its tasks.

To connect the pumping equipment yourself did not cause you serious difficulties, it is desirable to know in advance its design and understand the principle of its functioning.


Connected pumping station

Here everything is not so difficult. The main elements of the pumping station are as follows:

  1. Centrifugal pump. The basis of the whole construction. It is responsible for directly lifting fluid from the well, as well as for its supply to the residential building.
  2. Electric motor. It is connected to the pump and to a special pressure switch. The latter is of great importance for the normal operation of all equipment. The relay starts the engine when the pressure in the system decreases and turns off the motor when an excess of load is fixed.
  3. Hydraulic accumulator. This node is assembled from two separate parts. They are separated from one another by a special membrane. The only task of the battery is to smooth out the water hammering that occurs during the operation of the pumping station.
  4. Water intake element. This part of the equipment must be provided with a check valve. It is located directly in the well.
  5. The manometer. It monitors the pressure in the system and transmits data to the relay, which turns on / off the pump.

Also, the described equipment for water withdrawal from the well is equipped with a highway. It connects a pump and a water intake into one system. The cost of the stations we consider for installation on a well depends on the quality of all the nodes described above, on the capacity of the equipment (it can be 1.5 cubic meters of water per hour and 5), on the maximum head and power of the unit. Also, the price of the pump is affected by the promotion of the firm that produces it.

Specialists recommend installing water withdrawal equipment in a separate building from the house. It is advisable that it is at some distance from the dwelling, since during operation the pump produces enough loud noises. They can stop sleeping at home. The room for installing the equipment must be dry. Recall that the unit is powered by electricity. So, the increased humidity has a damaging effect on the pump. Servicing equipment under such conditions is life-threatening.


Pumping station in the place designated for it

The station should be installed on a special pedestal made of blocks of wood or bricks. The unit can also be placed on a strong, well-leveled concrete base. Under the pump, a suitable mat is made of rubber. It will protect you from possible electric shock, as well as dampen the vibrations that occur when starting and operating the unit. There are two exits on the pumping equipment. They allow to make its connection to the water supply of the dwelling and directly to the point of water intake (in our case - to the well). First you need to connect the station to the well. This is done with a 32-mm. One of its ends you connect to the pump, and the second you plunge into the well. Station operation after connection

At the end of the pipe, which is immersed in the source of water intake, it is necessary to mount coarse filter  cleaning. Its function is performed by a thin metal grid. From above put check valve. It will ensure a constant filling of the tubular product with water. If there is no liquid in the pipe, the station will not be able to pump it out of the well. The metal filter and the valve are fixed with a coupling having an external thread. Similar fasteners are also used for mounting the second end of the pipe. The fastening scheme in this case looks like this: connect an American (tap) to the pump outlet, then put the coupling and connect it with a collet device with a plastic tubing. All works are done by themselves without any difficulty.

The next step is to connect the equipment to the water supply. For these purposes, there is a special entrance to the station (at the top of it). To automate the operation of the pump with a self-contained storage tank, you can use a float sensor. This is a relatively simple device, many craftsmen make it themselves. A float is installed in the tank, with which information about the water level comes to the automatic switch.

When the amount of water in the tank reaches the minimum level, the pump starts and runs until the tank is full. After that the pump is automatically switched off. The storage tank is considered an economical variant of the house's water supply, since the cost of such a complex of devices is lower than that of an industrial pumping station.

Where to install the pump

The most important moment when installing a surface pump or pumping station is the choice suitable place. Here are a few requirements that will help you find the right place for pumping equipment:

  • the closer the device is to the source of water, the more steadily its fence will be carried out;
  • the device (or a set of devices) should be sheltered from bad weather in a special room, a bunker, etc.
  • it is necessary to protect the pump from freezing during winter colds;
  • the place where the equipment is installed must be ventilated to avoid an elevated level of humidity causing corrosive processes;
  • should take care of sufficient space not only to accommodate the pump or the entire station, but also to carry out the necessary maintenance, adjustment, repair, etc .;
  • the place should be either removed from the living quarters, or additionally isolated from noise, as the surface pump technology operates quite loudly.

It is not always possible to comply with all these conditions, but this should be pursued with all the strength. Surface pump is usually installed as close as possible to the water source.

To protect the device from external factors, it can be put in places like:

  • special wooden box;
  • well-arranged well head;
  • a cavity excavated in the earth;

Of course, each site is individual, the decision must be made depending on the situation. In the ground the pump is deepened, if it is necessary to protect the device from frost, but there are no other options. It will be necessary to dig a fairly large and deep pit, it should be below the freezing level of the ground.

Of course, if the dacha is used only in the warm season, the requirements for installing the pump may not be as severe. The freezing problem automatically disappears. But the pump should still be reliably hidden from the precipitation. If the dacha is to be kept for the winter period, of course, the surface pump must be removed, cleaned and stored in suitable conditions.


If it is decided to install a surface pump or a pumping station in the basement, make sure that it does not freeze during frosts

If the water source is a well of sufficiently large diameter concrete rings, you can place the pump directly in it. In this case, you do not need to dig anything, you need a small solid raft, able to withstand the weight of the pump. The raft is lowered directly to the surface of the water mirror, on top of which the pump is fixed.

The advantage of this solution is that the depth of immersion of the hose will be somewhat increased, i.e. The fence will be made from a greater depth. But it is necessary to take into account possible problems. For maintenance and repair of equipment it will have to be removed to the surface. The risk of contact of the appliance with water increases. But in general this option is quite acceptable.

If it is necessary to install a surface pump in the pump station, the requirements for choosing the suitable location will be approximately the same. Although it should be remembered that the size of the whole set of devices is slightly larger than that of a conventional pump. Most often, the station is put in a special caisson, which is equipped near the well.

The non-return valve, as well as the filter protecting it, are necessary elements. The valve protects the pump from idling because it prevents water from pouring back after the pump is turned off. The filter is necessary to protect the device from contamination.

Connection to the water supply system

Then connect the pump to the accumulator tank or accumulator tank. It should be remembered that the horizontal part of the hose should have a slight slope. When choosing a pump, it is also important to consider the distance from the well to the pump itself, as well as the position of the water conduit. That is, it is worth remembering that the 4 m horizontal part of the hose will be equivalent to 1 m of water lifting.

Pumps surface are of three types - centrifugal, ejector and vortex. They differ from each other in design features and performance.

It is they who will transmit energy to the water during the rotation of the main axis. This is a small installation, they are inexpensive. Efficiency - only about 45%. Not recommended for use as a pump for filling accumulators.

Such a pump is also called self-priming, and inside it has special wheels that create the necessary pressure during the operation of the device. They rotate due to the operating shaft, supported by bearings. The power is higher than that of a vortex pump, and therefore it can be pumped from a greater depth and can be used to organize a water supply system for a residential building. This is more expensive, but at the same time reliable and robust type of device with an efficiency of up to 92%. Can be used to create a pumping station in the house.

Such a pump consists of two circulation circuits: in one of them the liquid is supplied to the ejector, where a pressure difference is created due to the Bernoulli effect, and water comes from the second circuit. This design allows you to lower the pump to a depth, which will solve the problem with a low suction height. But recently such units are not in demand, as there are more efficient submersible pumps.


Based on the above written, it can be noted that it is best to acquire centrifugal pump. This is the best option. We will become acquainted with its device closer: a pair of disks is installed on the gearbox shaft inside the mechanism. In one of them a small hole is made, connected with the free space between these parts. In this gap there are plates inclined at a certain angle - they create a special tubule from the center of the free space to the edge. These "strokes" are connected to a diffuser connected, in turn, to a supply conduit. And the suction hose is connected to the disk hole.


The interdisk free space and the suction hose are filled with water, then the reducer is started, and the blade plates begin to rotate and push out the water. This process is due to centrifugal force. As a result, a depleted space is created in the center, and at the edges and in the diffuser, on the contrary, the pressure rises. To equalize this "bias", the system will seek to level indicators and begin to pump water. So this installation works.

Attention! Independently, such pumps are usually not used - they are part of the design of the pumping station. This system includes a control unit and a hydraulic accumulator.
