Plumbing in the villa area of plastic pipes. Summer water supply in the country: the peculiarities of using wells and wells. Ways of water supply.

Installation of HDPE pipes for water supply in the country with fittings - the most the best option. Polyethylene pipes are inexpensive, but strong enough and durable, and the use of fittings will make the system collapsible.

Pipes HDPE must comply with the requirements of GOST 18599-2001, which read:

  • Inside and outside, the pipe surface must be absolutely smooth.
  • The existing minor deviations should not exceed the established tolerances.
  • Neither inside, nor outside, nor at the end of the pipe there should be foreign inclusions, cracks, shells.
  • The color of the pipes is black or blue, which makes it possible to quickly distinguish water pipes   from others. Sometimes, at least three uniformly distributed longitudinal marking blue bands can be present on the black background of the pipe.
  • The pipe is designed for a maximum working pressure of 16-20 atm.

The main indicators for the classification of all polyethylene pipes   for water supply are:

  • Marking - PE 80, PE 100, the first were pipes marked PE 63, but now they are not used.
  • Resistance to internal pressure - SDR, determined by the ratio of the diameter of the pipe from outside to the wall thickness. The higher this value, the smaller the wall thickness.
  • Diameter.

PE 80 is used for the installation of a water pipe with a diameter of up to 90 mm, PE 100 is used for larger scopes. When choosing it is important to correctly decipher the symbol marked on the pipe. For example, the designation PE 100, SDR13, 110 x 8.1 drinking, GOST 18599-2001, stands for:

  • a polyethylene pipe with a diameter of 110 mm, a wall thickness of 8.1 mm;
  • intended for drinking water;
  • is made in accordance with GOST 18599-2001;
  • polyethylene of low pressure PE 100 is used for production.

Choice of diameter of pipes and fittings

The following parameters are key when selecting pipes and fittings for water mains:

  • Internal diameter. For both pipes and fittings, it must be the same. It is in direct proportion to the thickness of the wall.
  • The length of the pipe.
  • Conditional pass. Denoted by DN with the addition of the value in mm.
  • Wall thickness.

The choice of pipe diameter is influenced by the flow velocity. Its nominal value for a standard water pipe is 0.02 km / sec. There is the following relationship between the length of the water pipe and the diameter of the pipes:

  • With a system length of up to 30 m, the optimum pipe diameter is 25 mm, which provides a throughput of 30 l / min.
  • To install a water pipe more than 30 m long, pipes with a diameter of 32 mm, which increase the throughput capacity to 50 liters per minute, are suitable.
  • For a system with a length of less than 10 m, pipes with a diameter of 20 mm are used.

Important: When choosing pipes according to diameter, be guided by the expected water flow, considering that the capacity of the kitchen faucet and the bath is not more than 5 l / min. The more points of consumption, the greater the diameter of the pipes.

The following parameters have a decisive influence on the choice of pipe diameter for a suburban water pipe:

  • length of the system;
  • the expected number of joints;
  • number of turns;
  • consumption rate;
  • water pressure.

Keep in mind:   with the same pipe diameter for cold and hot water, the thickness of the walls in the latter should be 2 times greater.

Self-installing

Installation should begin with the drawing up of a scheme, where to take into account the location of the site in relation to water intake, determine the number and location of water distribution points. According to the available sketch, the amount of consumable and reinforcing material is considered.

The number of water consumption points depends on the location on the site of the bath, shower, beds, pool. A rational solution is to arrange from 5 to 10 pipe leads, and already connect the rubber hoses to them, so that there is convenient water access to each zone.

Installation of a summer demountable water pipe in the country

To install a water pipe in the suburban area will require a standard set of tools and material:

  • Pipes HDPE in an amount that depends on the wiring diagram. For the main water pipe take a pipe with a larger diameter, and for wiring to the supply points - smaller.
  • Various fitting connections.
  • Cutting tools: conical end knife, metal hacksaw.
  • Connectors to connect HDPE pipes with cranes, watering installations, shower.
  • Trays plumbing plastic, grating covering.

The work is carried out using this technology:

  1. Connect the suburban water supply to the source. Whether it is a common pipe or a column, use a special adapter for this. The connection is made under a slope.
  2. Perform wiring throughout the site, by laying pipes with a diameter of 20 or 25 mm to the points of water intake.
  3. Connect the pieces of pipe with collet fittings, having checked the correctness of the assembly. The fitting is dismantled before this, the gasket and the clamp are removed. Again, tightly insert the gasket into place, and then place a clamp with special fixing protrusions. Screw the clamping nut, but only slightly.
  4. Prepare for installation of the ends of polyethylene pipes. First cut the butt with a knife, then insert it into the fitting and tighten the clamping nut.
  5. Connect the pipes to the faucets, the irrigation system, etc.

Attention: all pipe connections are performed manually, if you use a clamping tool, you can tighten the nut and deform the fitting parts or pipe end.

If the seasonal water pipe is laid on the surface, it will become a hindrance for both technology and people. It is better to make a trench with the use of special trays of plastic, and then cover it with grilles included in the kit.

It is possible to replace HDPE pipes with a rubber hose reinforced with fibers made of capron. This material is also durable and durable enough.

Installation of a water pipe in the cottage

Installation of a waterpipe in the house is carried out on some other technology:

  1. Measure the right piece of pipe, mark its edge with a marker.
  2. In place of the mark on the circumference, paste the adhesive tape in such a way as to exactly match its edges.
  3. Cut the pipe as precisely as possible perpendicular to the axis of the tube, focusing on the edge of the tape. Take off the auxiliary material.
  4. On the cut end, a smooth bevel 2-3 mm in width is made with the help of a fusker or a regular file, simply stitching the edge at 20 degrees.
  5. Screw on the union nut with clamping and locking rings, put on the edge of the chamfer O-ring. Release the edge of the pipe, slightly shifting the previously installed parts, lubricate it with a plumbing lubricant.
  6. Insert the free edge into the fitting until it stops. Pull the ring nut closer to the ring and screw it onto the threaded part of the fitting. The same is done on the opposite side of the fitting. It is important that the pipe rests not in the gasket, but in the shoulder, then the connection will be sealed.
  7. Test the pipeline by running water into the system. If there are leaks, tighten the connections.

If all connections are made correctly, then no surprises in the form of stains

will be. If HDPE pipes are docked with metal, it is better to be reinsured by winding up the fumency.

Price for work

The price of installing a water pipe varies depending on the type of pipes, installation technology, scope of work. The average prices are listed in the table:

№ п / п Name A unit of amendment. amount Price,
Outdoor water supply
1. Pipe laying HDPE ǿ 100 mm m 1 360
2. Installation of elbows, bends, transitions, branch pipes PC. 1 450

7. - «- up to 90 mm m 100 6400
8. - «- up to 110 mm m 100 6900

In the future, pipes from polymers will replace their metal counterparts. And which polymer to choose HDPE, PVD or PVC, depends on the purpose of the water supply and power.

Polyethylene pipes are versatile due to their excellent material characteristics. An increasing use in everyday life is found in the HDPE pipe. Installation can be done by yourself, if everything is done according to the rules. This does not require special qualifications.

Material specifications

The high demand for HDPE pipes is due to the high quality of the material:

  • temperature range - from -50 0 С to +60 0 С;
  • resistance to acidic and alkaline environments;
  • high elasticity and strength;
  • low thermal conductivity;
  • polyethylene is not a conductor of electric current.

Application of pipes

In the house or at the cottage, HDPE pipes are manufactured:

  • drainage and drainage;
  • water pipes;
  • gas supply to the house;
  • cable duct for wiring.

Pipe Selection

For a water main with drinking water   purchase pipes with a diameter of not more than 60 mm with a wall thickness of 4 mm. They should be designed for working pressure of the liquid in the system not lower than 1 MPa. Advantage is the absence of corrosion and taste of metal near the water. If it is required to equip hot water supply, it is necessary to know that at 80 0 C the polyethylene softens, and when it rises it begins to melt. In this regard, you should choose a brand not lower than PE80. For hot water pipes can also be marked PE-PT or PN20, they can withstand heating to 110 0 C. For domestic conditions this is quite enough.

It is necessary to distinguish pipes for water supply and non-pressure pipes. For ordinary conditions of operation of the water supply, bays of 25 m in length with a wall thickness of at least 2 mm are taken. If the main line works under good pressure and has a diameter of more than 25 mm, then an inch pipe is taken as a tap. In any case, the tap must be smaller than the total water supply.

Methods of connecting HDPE pipes

Before installation, choose the connection method, which can be as follows:

  1. Non-detachable - electrofusion or butt welding. The connection is of the same strength as the pipe itself.
  2. Split method - socket, compression and flange connection. Such pipeline systems are easy to assemble and dismantle, it is possible to repair or install in hard-to-reach places. Connections are made using fittings.

The connection method is chosen depending on the following factors:

  • diameters of pipes;
  • type of operation: non-pressure, pressure, cabling;
  • the use of reinforcement from different materials and with different diameters;
  • site availability;
  • availability of welding equipment.

The most durable are welded and the threaded coupling with sealing is unstable to loads. Installation of a HDPE pipe for a water pipe with compression fittings is usually done on personal plots for irrigation systems of plants.

The weakest joints are the bell joints. They are used only in non-pressure pipes, except when the connection is made welded.

Compression fittings for HDPE pipes: installation

For HDPE pipes are used mainly plastic fittings, but there are also stronger options from steel, cast iron, copper and brass. They differ in design and can be welded, threaded, with a press connection. For plastic pipes   Compression fittings are predominantly used, where the fixing is performed by a clamping ring made of hard plastic with notches, and sealing - by tightening the O-rings.

Like the other connecting devices, there are several types:

  • clutch - for connecting pipes of equal diameter and direction;
  • transition - for fastening pipe ends whose diameters are different (metal-polyethylene transition possible);
  • branch, angle - the structure is rotated by 45-120 0;
  • tee, spider - to create branches;
  • choke - a device for connecting the pipe with a hose;
  • plug - for sealing the ends of pipes.

Before laying the water pipe, you first need to draw a diagram of it with all the fittings and valves. The unfolded pipe tends to twist, so it is fastened with clamps or pressed in a straightened state for 2 days.

If a HDPE pipe is selected for installation, installation is often done with compression fittings.

  1. The pipe is cut to the desired size with a special tool. You can use an ordinary hacksaw for metal, but the end while doing this is flat and cleared of burrs.
  2. The hole is leveled by the calibrator, since its oval shape is inadmissible. An external chamfer is made on the end face.
  3. The body of the fitting is neatly connected to the pipe, so as not to damage the rubber seals. Planting will be easier if the water is moistened with a joint.
  4. Hands tightened You can apply a key to ensure the necessary connection density.
  5. For the second pipe, the procedure is repeated.

Connections with compression fittings are useful when installing HDPE pipes at the dacha. The system is easy to assemble in the spring on the site and in the autumn to dismantle.

In remote places are not done. It is convenient to use electric couplings with a built-in heater. The fitting connects 2 pipes, after which its heating is turned on and welding takes place with the formation of an integral unit. The price of the device is high, but the method is effective and is often used.

Despite the possibility of dismantling in compression fittings, they should be replaced when reinstalled. This will ensure high reliability of the structure.

Flange connections

When the HDPE pipe is installed, it is preferable to mount the mounting for a diameter of more than 40 mm using metal flanges. For this, the pipe edges are cut with a pipe cutter at a right angle to the finished marking. Then polyethylene sleeves with boards are welded to them, and metal flanges are mounted on them. Another method is to mount a compression flange on the pipe to fix a smooth polymer joint. Then a standard flange is mounted, which is fixed with studs and bolts with a similar piece installed at the end of the steel pipe.

Flanged connection allows connecting valves, regulators, latches and pipes to each other.

Welded joints

Just like metal products, a HDPE pipe can be welded. Installation by own hands is made with the help of special equipment with electric heating of the junction points.

  1. The joints are cleaned and welding equipment is being prepared.
  2. The welding parameters are set.
  3. Pipes are fixed in the clamps of the welding machine and centered. The ends are machined mechanically.
  4. Between the pipes are installed heaters, with which the edges are melted.
  5. The ends are reduced under pressure, which is maintained until cooling.
  6. Pipes are extracted from the clamps.

The cost of installing HDPE pipes by welding depends on the diameter, but up to 63 mm the price is usually the same and is about 200 rubles. over the joint.

When using an electrical clutch, installation costs are the same as for butt welding, but it has a higher price. As a result, the cost is more.

Hydraulic testing

The working capacity of the collected water pipe is checked by filling with water for 2 hours. The system is then pressurized and maintained for 30 minutes. The pipeline is inspected for leaks.

During operation, the state of the system is constantly monitored. If properly assembled, it will function for a long time.

Errors in the installation of HDPE pipes

  1. It is important to take into account the linear expansion of the pipes from the effect of temperature. If you forget about it, the voltage inside the pipes exceeds the norm, which shortens the period of their operation.
  2. Too much distance between the attachments causes the pipeline to sag, which leads to its premature failure.
  3. Pipes are cemented only with insulation.
  4. In order to avoid condensation on the surface, the supply pipes are warm or cold water   are isolated.
  5. During installation, the fitting is disassembled so that the pipes come in as far as the stop. If you do not fully untwist the nut and then push the pipe into the connector with force, it may not penetrate deeply enough. When the installation of HDPE pipes is done by hand at the dacha for the irrigation system, leaks are not so dangerous, but for domestic water supply it is unacceptable. Regardless of the consequences in both cases, you must create a tight connection.
  6. Excessive tightening of the adapters leads to their destruction or slipping of the gaskets from the installation sites.

Conclusion

When the HDPE pipe is installed, the installation is done mainly by welding or compression fittings. If you follow the installation rules, the connections will be leakproof and durable for many years.

If you are building a house or doing repairs in an old dwelling, you are surely faced with the need to replace rusted steel pipelines with new ones. Best of all as an alternative to metal suitable plastic or polyethylene products of low pressure (HDPE). The installation of HDPE pipes with their own hands is very easy even without special knowledge. As a rule, manufacturers apply assembly instructions to their products.

In addition to ease of installation, HDPE pipes have other advantages, which explain their growing popularity:

  • they are resistant to most chemical compounds;
  • polyethylene is not subject to corrosion;
  • when frozen inside the water, they do not crack;
  • well tolerate water hammers;
  • do not rot and are not affected by fungi and bacteria;
  • are elastic, and therefore suitable for use in seismically hazardous regions;
  • transportation and installation of plastic is cheaper 2-3 times than transportation and assembly of metal products ;
  • the service life is more than 50 years.

The disadvantage of HDPE pipes is that they can serve at temperatures up to 40 ° C, i.e. not suitable for hot water supply.

There are two types of pipes:

  1. Non-pressure - for sewerage and storm sewage;
  2. Pressure - for gas pipelines and water systems.

The thickness of the walls of HDPE pipes varies from 2 to 72 mm, and their diameter is from 20 to 1200 mm. Dimensions are selected depending on the installation location and destination. For the supply of water to the house, products with a cross section of 20 to 30 mm are most often used with the use of compression brass or plastic fittings. When sanitation facilities   choose PVC pipes with a diameter of 90 to 160 mm, fastening them with couplings with O-rings.

For pipes of different sizes there are 3 different ways   connections:

  1. Butt welding - an all-in-one type, performed with the help of a special apparatus;
  2. Electrofusion welding;
  3. With the use of fittings and flanges - a detachable type of installation.

Non-detachable connections are more suitable for high-pressure pipelines. The weld seam is even stronger than the body itself.

Butt Welding Technology

Welding increase pipes with a cross section of more than 50 mm and with a wall thickness of more than 5 mm. This is a rather complicated method, which requires some preparation of the operator and the presence of a welding machine. The procedure is as follows:

  1. The edges of the pipes are leveled, cut at a right angle and carefully cleaned.
  2. They are then heated to the melting point and quickly combined.
  3. Wait when the stitch cools.

When working, it is necessary to monitor the warm-up time and pressure on the surfaces to be joined. The welded seam should be uniform over the entire length, then it will be as strong as possible.

Do not try to weld two pipes from different manufacturers. The characteristics of polyethylenes can vary considerably, and the resulting seam ruptures from the pressure of water.

Electrofusion welding connection

This method of fastening consists in the use of shaped elements with built-in electric spiral arms. Spirals are heated and melted polyethylene, tightly soldering the pipes.

This method is used for the installation of sections with a cross section of less than 160 mm or when access to the docking location is difficult. Diameters of welded pipes should not differ by more than 10%.

To make a connection, the edges must be cleaned of dirt and aligned. And also fix for the time of work. The positioner will help in this.

Both ends are inserted into the coupling and the welding machine is turned on. The duration and temperature of the heating is usually indicated on the barcode of the part.

Pipe Fittings

For pipes of small size, section up to 110 mm, removable connections are more suitable. Of these, water and sanitation are installed in urban apartments.

For assembly, you will need compression-type brass or plastic fittings and socket flanges with flexible seals.

Just as in welding, we cut the pipes to the desired length, and the ends are made strictly perpendicular to the body.

We turn the union nut of the fitting a few turns and insert the pipe into it to the end. It must enter the rubber seal with effort. After this, it is necessary to put on the collet and the elastic ring and tighten the nut. Small parts are screwed by hand, but for mounting larger diameter pipes it is better to use a wrench. In the end, do not forget to check the tightness of the connection.

Pipe holders

Pipeline from HDPE is fixed to the walls with clamps. And for reliability they are installed under each docking site. In the remaining sections, the distance between the fasteners equals 10 pipe diameters. The distance from the walls is 2-4 mm.

Usually they use rigid noise-proof clamps with a rubber seal. But that in the pipes during operation no internal stresses arise, some holders are placed without gasket, leaving the pipeline to lie in the fastening ring freely. This will allow him to maintain mobility and serve for many years without much care.

Pipes for irrigation in the country - perhaps the most important thing to remember and prepare any self-respecting gardener on the eve of the next summer season. This article will be devoted to solving this problem.

What are the pipes for irrigation in the country?

If you decided to make water supply on your site in a modern way, then you have a question, what pipes to use for this. You can look at the materials widely used for the device of water supply to the apartments. One of them is polypropylene. The material is reliable, well-kept high pressure   both hot and cold water. It is not for nothing that metal substations for heating are replaced everywhere. But if we talk about it as a material for irrigation water pipe in a suburban area, I'm sure it's not an ideal choice.

First, the installation of water supply from polypropylene pipes   the case is not simple and requires the presence of serious plumbing skills. In addition, for installation of the pipeline from this material, a specific tool will be required - the apparatus, which is used to weld pipes of this kind. Secondly, the pipeline assembled from such pipes requires fixing to anything in order to avoid the application of a mechanical load, as a result of which the welded seam may break. And since pipes for watering in the country house most often lie on the surface of the earth or are dug at a symbolic depth, the use of polypropylene pipes is impractical.

Metal-plastic pipes for watering in the country

A good option for the construction of water supply in the country with the help of metal-plastic pipes. These pipes are easy to install, because they do not require welding or threading the parts to be joined, but are mounted using special fittings. In order to assemble the pipeline, a small set of tools is needed. In addition, such pipes easily tolerate deformation.

Nevertheless, a water pipe made of such material has drawbacks. Since the fittings are metal (brass), they are prone to corrosion, which sooner or later will affect the operability of the water pipe. And the cost of such water supply low-budget can not be called in connection with the considerable cost of quality fittings.

HDPE pipes for watering in the country

In my opinion, the best option is to use polyethylene low pressure pipes or further HDPE pipes. Such pipelines favorably differ from the above for a number of indicators. They are chemically inert. In this connection, HDPE pipes are able to lie for tens of years both on the surface of your site and in the ground without any signs of corrosion. Sufficient mechanical strength and flexibility makes them a demanded material in those places where there are soil shifts or subsidence.

Moreover, it is a pleasure to build a water pipe in the suburban area of such pipes and fittings. This material is extraordinarily light and conveniently folded, which makes it easier to deliver the countryside. In addition, the fittings used to assemble the water pipe are installed almost without any tools. At cost, such water supply will be the most affordable among all the mentioned. And in the end you can add that such pipes for watering in the country house can be easily and repeatedly disassembled at the end of the season. This is convenient if the protection of the garden association is absent or is not at the proper level.

Calculation of the number of fittings and pipes for irrigation in the country

Having stopped the choice of a material for country water supply on polyethylene pipes of low pressure, the next step is to design a water pipe and calculate what it will take. First, it is required to determine the length of the HDPE pipe, which will provide watering of any place in the suburban area. For a full-fledged water supply, pipes from 20 to 32 mm in diameter are suitable.

Most garden plots have a centralized supply of irrigation water. Therefore, for the operation of the water pipe, a fitting is required to connect to the central pipe and a fitting for the plug of the pipeline at the other end. For the convenience of watering, it makes sense to install several valves with a nozzle for the irrigation hose. This can be done by installing fittings - tees. Their number depends on the size of the suburban area, but it is reasonable to establish at least 3. Simplified calculation of the material required for the pipeline may look like this.

  1. Pipe HDPE diameter 25 mm - 30 meters.
  2. Connection fitting for central water supply or coupling - 1 pc.
  3. Clutch for the plumbing of the water pipe in the plot - 1 pc.
  4. Tee for installing the ball valve - 3 pcs.
  5. Ball valve - 4 pcs. (Three to connect to the tee, one to install on the muff - plug)
  6. Adapter - nozzle for irrigation hose - 4pcs.

We mount our own pipes for irrigation at the cottage

In order to successfully implement the installation of the dacha pipeline, it is necessary to understand the operating principle of the compression fitting, which is used in this case.

The design of the pipe fitting for watering in the country house consists of several elements. Its body (1) is made of black polymer. The connection of the cover (6) and the body (1) takes place by threading. The cover (6) has a high strength. The O-ring (3) ensures the tightness of the connection. The compression ring (4) holds the rubber ring (3). The clamping ring (5) does not allow the pipe to be forced out of the housing (1) by the water pressure.

To assemble a country water supply using HDPE pipes, only a tool for cutting them will be required. It is convenient to use special scissors - pipe cutters, which can be purchased in the same place as the pipes. But in their absence, the pipe can be cut off with an ordinary metal hacksaw. Also useful tape-FUM or flax for sealing threaded connections. Now you can start assembling the villa's water supply.

  Pipes for irrigation in the country - installation instructions

  1. Straighten the HDPE pipe, carefully unbending it.
  2. Install the initial coupling in the valve opening the water supply from the central water supply. To do this, thread the FUM tape or flax, soaked in water, and screw it onto the tap.

  1. Connect the pipe to the coupling. Important: during installation, the pipe must be inserted as far as it will go into the fitting body. For this, some effort must be made.

Connection pipe for irrigation in the country

  1. Install the tees on the selected sections of the pipeline. To do this, cut the pipe and fit the fittings.

  1. In the tees screw the valve and the nozzle - the adapter for the irrigation hose. Doing this, it is necessary to seal the threaded connections.

  1. At the end of the pipeline, install the coupling and screw it onto the valve with an adapter similar to item 5.

After the installation of the suburban water pipe is completed, a leakproofness test should be carried out. Thus, it is possible to prepare cheaply and independently for the season pipes for watering in the country.

Dear readers, I hope the article will help you prepare for the irrigation season.

Thank you for sharing this article on social networks!

At present, plastic pipes actively replace competitors from other materials in the sphere of gas supply, water supply and sewerage. One of the most popular products on the market for water supply are HDPE pipes.

What is the HDPE pipe?

It is deciphered by HDPE as low pressure polyethylene. It was polyethylene that became one of the first polymers used for the production of pipes. The stores are usually presented in the form of bays of black color, 25 and more meters, of different diameters.

Using

The polyethylene pipe has found wide application in many spheres: a waterpipe, teplotehnicheskie and gas constructions, the water drain and a drainage, a lining of commutations and as an external protective layer.

We are primarily interested in the installation and installation of water supply with the help of HDPE pipes. Black pipe, with blue longitudinal stripes, with an inscription for drinking water and the specified diameter. A strip of blue indicates that the pipe is designed for cold water supply. Pipes with a yellow strip - for gas.

Advantages of HDPE pipes in front of metal:

  • Simplicity and ease of installation;
  • The service life is about 50 years, which is 2-3 times more than metal pipes;
  • A light weight;
  • Low thermal conductivity;
  • Ability to expand (the pipe will not burst in the cold);
  • Operating temperatures from -20 ° С to + 40 ° С;
  • Low noise;
  • Wide choice of diameters and lengths.

How to choose HDPE pipe

Recommended parameters: for an average suburban area, ideal bays are ideal for 25 meters, with a wall thickness of 2 mm. The diameter should be selected depending on the water pressure in the system: if the common water pipe or water source has good pressure from the pipe more than ¾ "in, then boldly take the 25 HDPE pipe. If the water source is a metal pipe of ¾ ", then a pipe of 20 mm should be taken. The bore diameter should be smaller than the diameter of the main pipe to ensure good pressure.

Although the life span of the polyethylene pipe is about 50 years, it is not superfluous to pay attention to the production date, which is indicated by marking the pipes together with the diameter and wall thickness.

  The outer diameter of HDPE pipes varies from 10 to 1200mm, but the most common are 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm.

Correspondence of diameters

For metal fittings, and for connection to a ¾-inch metal pipe (inner diameter 20 mm, outer approx. 25 mm), an HDPE pipe of 25 mm is suitable. Accordingly, the threaded connections of the metal will coincide with the components of the HDPE pipe.

Metal tubes and fittings ½ in diameter (inner diameter 15 mm, external approximately 20 mm) corresponds to HDPE pipe of 20 mm.

Do not forget that it is always possible to use adapters to reduce and increase the diameter of the components of the water system, however, with the pressure in the system.

Installation of HDPE pipes by hands

If you were fond of playing in the designer as a child, then installing a water pipe with polyethylene pipes is not difficult. The connection of the pipes takes several minutes and does not require the use of tools.

Possible options for connecting hoses and cranes to the HDPE pipe

In advance, draw a diagram of the water supply and the number of cranes required. Installation and laying under the ground is possible. It should be taken into account that a new pipe, just opened, is trying to twist, taking the previous form. Therefore, one of the options for facilitating installation is the fastening of the pipe with electric clamps to the old water pipe or on the fence. We recommend to take the clamps at least 4 mm wide. Another option is to unfold and straighten the pipe before mounting, pressing it down with something heavy in several places along the entire length and leave it for a couple of days.

Types of fittings for HDPE pipes

Thermal welded seams or threaded joints are used to connect the HDPE pipe to the water supply system. Between each other the pipes are joined by special clamping junctions, which makes it possible to quickly replace the damaged section of the pipe or increase the length.

For a joint with a metal pipe or fittings with threaded connections (cranes or drills), compression elements are used, with reverse side   which is made by internal or external thread.

Compression tee - joint of 2 pipes and thread for tap connection or a clamping connection for tapping the HDPE pipe. There are options for connecting a branch pipe smaller diameter.

Compression docking connection - serves for lengthening, extension of length or transition to a smaller pipe diameter.

Rotate 90 °

Compression Crane

With the correct connection, thanks to the construction, no leakage occurs. At the joints of metal - HDPE, we recommend using a fum tape.

Let's try to figure out how the connection works. The photo above shows the usual joint, due to which it is possible to extend the pipe. Left unscrewed blue nut and clamping ring. It is thanks to the clamping ring that the pipe is tightly fixed in the joint. The ring is made of hard plastic with sharp notches, which, when tightening the nut, cut into the HDPE pipe a little.

On the right of the connector body is a white, translucent, sealing sleeve, which in turn presses a rubber ring to prevent water leakage. Below, in the photo, you can see all the parts of a simple connection system.

The first "sill" serves for the rubber ring and the coupling, the pipe itself reaches the middle of the butt joint.

Now the most important thing: the connection process. It is desirable to cut the pipe with a hacksaw with a small tooth, cut the burrs. Next, unscrew the blue nut, take out all the details and successively put everything on the pipe.

The mistake of many people is that during the installation they do not disassemble the connection, but try to unscrew the nut a little, push the HDPE pipe into the force. After this, flow occurs - the pipe does not penetrate deeply enough into the connector.

Maximally push the connector onto the pipe and tighten the nut as far as it will go, as far as you can. Enjoy the result of work!
