And Allah said: “Is not the time come for the hearts of the believers to fear at the mention of Allah and that which has been sent down from the truth, and that they should not be like those to whom the Book was given before, whose hearts turned black after a long time and many of who are the wicked?" (Al Hadid, 16)
And Allah said: Woe to those whose hearts are callous to the remembrance of Allah! They are in obvious error."(az-Zumar, 22)

Narrated at-Tirmidhi from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: “Do not be verbose without the remembrance of Allah, because many words without the remembrance of Allah cause hardness of the heart. And the furthest of people from Allah is the one with a hard heart.”

Ibn Abi ad Dunya said: “Ali Ibn al Ja'd told us what Hammad Ibn Salama told him, from Abu Imran al Juni, from Abu Hureyra, that one person complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about the hardness of the heart, and the Prophet said : " If you want your heart to be soft, then stroke the orphan's head and feed the poor»

And this was transmitted by Abdur Rahman Ibn Mahdi from Hammad Ibn Salama along the same path.
But Jabir Ibn Musafir transmitted this from Muammil from Hammad from Abu Imran, from Abdullah Ibn as-Samit, from Abu Dharr, from the Prophet, peace be upon him - and this path does not seem to be reliable from Hammad
And this al Juzjani narrated, saying: “Muhammad Ibn Abdullah ar Rakkashi told us what Jafar told him, what Abu Imran al Juni told him, what the Prophet said, peace be upon him and mentioned the hadith. And this path is more true than the previous one, because Ja'far memorized the hadiths of Abu Imran better than Hammad Ibn Salam.
And Abu Nueym reported, on the way from Abdur Razzak, from Mamar, from one of his sheikhs - that Abu ad Darda wrote Salman al Farisi: “Be merciful to the orphan, and bring him closer to you, and feed him from your food, verily, I was present when the Muechtina came to the Prophet and complained to him of the callousness of the heart, and the Prophet said: “ Do you want your heart to be soft? Remembrance of death

Narrated Ibn Abi ad Dunya with his isnad from Mansur Ibn Abdur Rahman, from Safiyyah, that a woman came to Aisha to complain about her hardness of heart, and Aisha said: "Remember death often, then your heart will be softened and you will become capable of your need - worship, which is a burden to you"
And she did so, and saw that her heart was corrected, and she came and thanked Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her.
And many salaf, like Said Ibn Jubair, Rabbi Ibn Abi Rashid, and others said: “If the memory of death leaves our hearts even for a short period of time, they will deteriorate”
And it came in Sunan that the Prophet said: Remember the Destroyer of Pleasure More Often- that is, death.
And he conveyed to Ato al Khurasani with isnad mursal that the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by the Majlis, from which laughter was heard loudly, and said: “ Add to your majlis the mention of the destroyer of pleasures". They said to him: “And who is this, the destroyer of pleasures?” He said: " Death»

And from Bureida that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I forbade you to visit the graves, so visit them - verily, they remind of the future life.

And from Anas, that the Prophet said: "I used to forbid you to visit the graves, then it became clear to me that they soften the hearts, and cause tears in the eyes, and remind of the future life - so visit them, and do not speak bad words in"

And Ibn Abi ad Dunya mentioned from Muhammad Ibn Solih at Thammar that he said: Safwan Ibn Suleim came to the cemetery of al-Baqi, and when he went there he passed by my house. And one day I quietly followed him and said to myself: “By Allah, I will see what he is doing.”
And he lowered his head and sat down beside one of the graves, and wept, and did not stop weeping until I began to pity him. And I thought that this was the grave of one of his relatives. And the other day, I followed him again, and he sat down at another grave and began to cry. And I mentioned it Muhammad Ibn al Munkadaru, and said: "I thought he was visiting the grave of one of his relatives," and Muhammad said: "They are all his relatives and brothers, but he is just a man whose heart revives the remembrance of the dead, whenever it hardens." And after that, Muhammad Ibn al Munkadar also began to visit the al-Baqi cemetery sometimes. And one day he passed by me, and I gave him salam, and he said to me: "The admonition of Safwan did not benefit you." And I thought that he benefited from what I told him.
And the Imam also mentioned Ibn Abi ad Dunya, that the much worshiped old woman from the tribe of Abdul Kais visited the graves a lot, and she was reproached for this, and she said: “When a callous heart has hardened, nothing softens it except traces of decay. I come to the graves, and as if I see them, how they come out of them, and as if I see these earth-covered faces, and these changed bodies, and these dirty kafans in which they are wrapped! And what a sight it is! And their hearts do not rejoice in him, and how strong is the bitterness of souls, and how much the bodies are destroyed!
Said Ziyad al-Numeiri: "Whenever I want to cry, I walk past one place." One man said to him: “How is it?” He replied: “Whenever I want to cry, I go out to the cemetery and sit next to one of the graves and think about how they became decay, and remember that we have only a small respite. And then I forget all my plans and worldly claims!
I will say, and Allah gives guidance:
“Are you still building in the land of destruction? And to populate and develop, but you were not created for this!
Days will not leave you with excuses, and you were exhorted .. but did not answer the exhortation
At any moment, you may be called to leave this world .. and it will be announced that now it is only your turn!
You will hear the call, at that moment when you were careless to those who called you .. as if you did not hear them .. and you will know that there is a long way ahead, and you were careless, and there is no stock for him
You sleep, and the one who counts your remaining days does not sleep .. so how do you sleep?
This world has many shortcomings, but you have love for it.
Your days are useless in games and entertainment.. and if you were reasonable, you would not play!
Indeed, after death, there are only two ways - either fiery Hell for the disobedient, or bliss for the one who obeys Allah.
So do not build false hopes, and leave the worldly things, and do righteous deeds in the time that is left for you.
And the first person I blame here is myself, because I did the same as what you did.
Oh my soul, are you sinking into sins when you are already 46 years old?
And I hope that my age will be extended so that I can see how a little reserve is gathered for the way.
Oh youth, its branches grow luxuriantly, and then a little time has passed, and you are already turning gray
And you know about it, so leave the path of ignorance, and beware of it .. and you know about the Voice of Judgment Day, but you will not commit a deed!
O he who collects wealth, tell me, is what you have collected will protect you from death?
O one who craves power, to be listened to and to carry out your orders - you rushed to power, and do not worry whether you are fair to people, or tyrannize them?
Don't you know that when you were given power, you were slaughtered without a knife?
And your joy from gaining power cannot be compared with sadness when you hear that you have been removed from it!
And don't delay, because time is like a sword, and if you don't use it, you will lose it.
You see how the days turn everything green into ashes, and erase what you loved and what you were pleased with.
And know that this world is like a dream, and the best thing that can happen to you is awakening.
So how are you busy with what will disappear and its embellishments, and can't find time to collect the eternal?
This is just dunya, if she makes you happy once, then she will upset you twice as much
She seduces you like a mirage, and you go to him and do not feel that you are deceived.
Look how many of your loved ones she has already destroyed! Like you're safe from what happened to them!
You bury them and then come back happy because of the inheritance you got
And you forget about them, but tomorrow you will disappear, as if you did not exist, and did not exist.
You talk about them, and you say: “They were…”.. yes, they were, and tomorrow about you, I swear by Allah, they will say: “He was…”
You talk about them, and tomorrow others will talk about you.. so be as righteous as you can
After all, a person after death - only a memory remains about him .. so be such that they speak well of you when they remember
Ask the days about your uncles and aunts .. although why ask, because you know what happened to them
Don't you see their houses empty, and don't you recognize those houses as they were!"
