How to make a water well drilling rig

A large number of summer residents and owners of private houses today are looking for an economically viable and simple option for supplying water to the site. One way is to drill a well. It can be done using a mini drilling device assembled by hand.

The drilling rig can be stationary, mobile and portable. The latter is also called small-sized. It is such a mini installation that is used for domestic needs, for example, for drilling water wells within a personal area.

The small-sized drilling rig, in turn, has several more varieties. The specialists identified the following:

  1. The UKB installation, operating on the percussion-rope principle, consists of a frame with a triangular base and a cable with a chisel and a bailer fixed on it;
  2. A drilling rig that removes soil using an auger without flushing the well with water;
  3. Rotary installations based on the principle of hydrodrilling;
  4. Hand rotors using manual labor instead of electric motor.

The latter type of drilling rig for drilling water wells is rarely used, since the costs of manual labor are very high. Rope percussion drilling is based on the destruction of the soil by the load thrown into it. The cycle is repeated until the planned well depth is reached. A rotating auger makes the process both easier and more difficult.

Why? The reason is that rotation can reduce physical efforts, but the structure is complicated, its dimensions are increased, that is, it takes more time and materials to install it. It is not always possible to make the latter with your own hands, so you have to buy in a store or even order. But the labor costs are worth it, because as a result you get a fairly professional technique that can be used in the future and outside your site.

In addition to its compactness, the small-sized drilling rig has several more indisputable advantages, among which it is worth noting:

  1. Ease of transportation;
  2. Lower cost than SPGs;
  3. Ease of installation work and speed of preparatory actions;
  4. Materials and equipment are in the public domain;
  5. Ability to connect and operate the drilling rig from a generator;
  6. No need for a large number of workers;
  7. Small size and weight;
  8. The ability to use for installation of the foundation and other works of the zero cycle.


Impact rope type

In order to make such a mini drilling rig for drilling water wells with your own hands, the following structures must be assembled according to the drawings:

  1. Collapsible bed;
  2. Shock cartridge;
  3. Dredging bailer.

If desired, for more effective loosening of the soil, you can add serrated cutouts in the lower part of the "glass". But this condition is not necessary, you can leave the surface smooth by sharpening it. Above, in any case, holes are needed, with the help of which the rope is attached to the cartridge. To be able to clean the face of loosened soil, you need a thief, which is effective even on clay soils. The photo shows a homemade type of element that loosens and extracts soil masses. In addition, for the complete assembly of the device shown in the video, you will need:

  1. Strong rope on which the chuck is suspended;
  2. Frame that serves as the basis for attaching all other elements;
  3. Motorized winch for easy work.

Automatic drilling device

The electric drilling rig saves time and effort. The electrical network feeds the mechanism of the drilling device, which makes it more efficient, and the work - high-quality, since the soil is removed faster and more accurately. The electrical elements indicated in the drawings are as follows:

  • bed or frame;
  • control Panel;
  • winch;
  • swivel;
  • gear motor;
  • drilling hoses.

The electric drilling rig, as shown in the photo, has a base in the form of a square hollow profile. A stand and supporting elements are made from it with their own hands, the dimensions of which are taken from ready-made drawings. Then the stand and support are connected by welding. The support platform is transitional. An electric motor and a platform are attached to a larger square profile, which can move together along the rack.

We increase the power

The power of the automatic electric drilling rig does not exceed one horsepower. But this value can be increased. It is enough to install the gearbox, on the shaft of which a flange is attached with another flange already fixed on it with bolts. A rubber washer of the required thickness is placed between the flanges and absorbs some of the shock loads, smoothing them out.

This helps to avoid drilling problems. An electric drilling rig cannot fully operate without water. It must be fed to the place where the soil is in contact with the elements of the device. Feeding can be done using a special device that is placed just below the gasket level between the flanges.

A drilling device is really necessary in the country or in a country house. In addition, the presence of such a device is justified by its relatively easy assembly when studying the entire technology, as well as the possibility of reusable use even outside the site, that is, for your own business. The main thing is that the drilling mechanism does an excellent job of drilling wells, so your site is guaranteed a constant and high-quality water supply.
