Debt in Islam and how to get rid of it. Muslim prayer for debt

In this lecture, Mufti Abdurrahman discusses in detail the issue of getting rid of debts. It is known that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) strongly warned his followers against borrowing from people, since any debt puts a heavy burden on a person and can bring out bad qualities in a person (if he fails to repay on time, he will lie , dodge, hide and the like). However, if a person takes out a loan while in great need, with a firm intention to repay the debt, Allah will help him repay. But the one who takes out a loan just on a whim puts himself in a very difficult position - because he wants to buy himself some beautiful, expensive things or arrange a rich wedding, just to show off. Allah does not like it when people show excess, so it will be very difficult for such a person to repay the debt. Further in the lecture, many valuable duas from the Sunnah are given that will help a person repay the debt on time and not get into a position where he will have to turn to someone for help. It is especially important to get rid of debts before death, since their presence can worsen a person’s situation in a future life.

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil-alamin. Wa ssalatu wa ssalamu ala saidinul-mursalin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajmain. Amma baad.

At the last lecture we focused on the words of Imam Muhasibi:

“Seek Allah’s help in every situation and ask to give you the best, to give you good in every matter.”

This is an important point, which is connected with what we talked about some time ago - in this Majlis or somewhere else, about people who cannot have children. For many people, this is a very difficult problem, both physically and psychologically, so they turn to all sorts of means, like IVF, for example. This is all permissible, but there is one thing that we often forget about - we also talked about it last time - these are requests, duas to Allah, Subhana wa Taala.

Imam Muhasibi is talking about exactly this now - asking Allah for help in any situation - whatever it is, writing an essay at school, finding a good job, a new project at work, buying something for your home - in any matter. ask Allah for help. We should turn to Him in every matter, since everything is in His Hands, in His power. There is nothing in our life that we do with our own strength - everything we do, we do with His help and the strength that He puts in us: “We will make it easier for those who do good...” Strengths, abilities, good surroundings - it all comes from Allah, Subhan wa Ta'ala. We may have the ability to do everything in this world - in the physical sense, to master all professions, to train, to practice for many years, but still - the final result, its benefits, the barakat from it - come from Allah, Subhan va Ta'ala. So we must turn to Him for help not just formally, because that’s how it’s supposed to be, but because in reality all our strength and our abilities come from Him. He wants us to do this.

Diseases - as I talked about last time - are a big nuisance, a scourge for a person, which bring us many difficulties. I will not now touch on the meaning of diseases - why they are sent to a person, I will only say how we should ask Allah in this case. One of the ways to turn to Allah is to turn to dua. Addressing Him in the words that He taught us through His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), as well as using such methods of treating diseases as are mentioned in the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Last time I said that black cumin, honey, zamzam water are considered very effective treatments in Islamic medicine. Of course, using these remedies does not mean giving up conventional medications or visiting doctors - but all this should be used together.

Today I want to talk to you about debts - when a person borrows money from someone. In the Muwatta of Imam Malik, the words of Umar (radyAllahu anhu) are quoted, who spoke about debts:

“Their beginning is anxiety and inconvenience...”- after all, debts begin with the unpleasant thought “I will have to borrow.” And after that you borrow.

“...and their end is a huge burden”(literally it says " harb", "war"). After all, if you cannot repay the debt - and this will definitely happen, if you make debts thoughtlessly, without first calculating what amount you really absolutely need, how long it will take to repay them, you will not make efforts to repay them on time, - then you will have to lie, evade payment, avoid your creditor, make false promises, make excuses for yourself, let the other person down, and the like. Moreover, if these were official debts - to a bank, for example, or made in an official form, then creditors can take your car or something from your property. Therefore, Umar (radyAllahu anhu) said that debts end in “war” - conflict, trouble. So the main idea is to avoid debt - as much as possible.

Scientists say that there can be two situations when a person takes on debt. The first is if a person does it in case of extreme need, out of necessity. Sometimes life develops in such a way that a person does not have enough money for the most necessary things for himself and his family - food, clothing, housing. I was recently in India talking to someone who recently had a stroke, is paralyzed on the left side of his body, and has a medical bill of 1,700 rupees a month - about 20 pounds. He and his family do not have that kind of money - his earnings are barely enough for food. So he had to take out debt to pay his medical bills. But this is a valid reason - a person could not survive without this money, he is forced to borrow money to provide for his basic needs.

The second situation is when a person takes money for pleasure, to buy some extra things, luxury items, for extravagant holidays. A person has enough of everything, but he needs a new TV - the latest model, with some ultra-modern functions. And for this he takes out a loan. Only because your friend has already bought such a TV and you want to have the same one.

And our scientists say that if a person takes out a loan in real need, the Almighty will help him repay this debt. However, even if in such a situation a person tries to do without debts, limits himself in everything, but does not reach out to people with a request, Allah helps him. Here we are already talking about tawakkul, about trust in Allah - when a person, even in such a difficult situation, hopes in Allah that He will help him and give him food. However, if such a person cannot resist and takes on a debt, Allah will help him pay off the debt.

But if a person borrows for the sake of his own whims, to show off to people, to keep up with others - unnecessarily, this will be a sin. The simplest example of this situation is our extravagant weddings. Let's say the average wedding - without unnecessary luxury - will cost a person several thousand pounds. With this money you can invite several dozen guests, arrange a meal, and pay other expenses. However, you want to arrange something extraordinary - order a luxurious meal, rent large cars, rent a large hall for a celebration (not an ordinary hall in a small restaurant), in an expensive restaurant - just because such a wedding has already been arranged by your brother or your friend. And you take out a loan for another 20 thousand to arrange all this. This is a big risk - since this does not please Allah, He will not help a person pay off such a debt. If you did this when you were in need, He would help you - He always helps people in need, helps them. As they say: “Allah is with those whose hearts are broken” - that is, with those who are in grief and need. But when a person goes into debt unnecessarily, just to show off, to keep up with others - then it becomes a problem.

Allah Almighty says in Surah Nahl:

“All the blessings you have are from Allah. And if trouble touches you, then you cry to Him for help.” (Surah An-Nahl, verse 53).

Sahih al-Bukhari contains a hadith, - it is reported by Salama ibn al-Akwa (radyAllahu anhu) ... - in general, we know that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) strongly kept people from debts, for whatever reason. Especially if a person is not sure that he will be able to repay the debt on time. So, if you have to borrow, let it be an amount that you know for sure that you will be able to pay back.

So, in the hadith (which I started talking about) it is said that the deceased was brought to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) so that he would perform janaza, a funeral prayer, over him. He asked:

Did he leave any debts?

The Companions replied that no. Then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed janaza on him.

After some time, another dead person was brought in. And he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked again whether there were any debts left after him? Someone answered yes. Then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) refused to pray over him. Among them was the companion Abu Qatada (radyAllahu anhu), who said that he would take care of his debts, pay off his debts. And only then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) agreed to read a funeral prayer over him.

Jabir (radyAllahu anhu) conveys another version of this hadith - or perhaps this is a different story, it is transmitted in the collection of Imam Ahmad that a certain companion died. They washed him, anointed him with perfume, wrapped him in a shroud and brought him to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) to pray over him. And the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) took a few steps towards the deceased (to perform prayer), but then suddenly asked:

Did he have any debts? Did he borrow money from someone?

And the companions replied that yes, he borrowed two gold dinars from one of them. Then the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) walked away from the deceased - as a sign that he did not want to pray over him. And then Abu Qatada said that he took responsibility for his debts, he would see to it that they were paid (or he would pay them himself). The Prophet clarified:

Do you take responsibility for them? Will you pay for it - so that this burden will be lifted from this person?

Abu Qatada confirmed that yes, he would do this, and the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) then performed prayer over the deceased.

The next day the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked him:

What about his two dinars? (has his debt been paid)

And Abu Qatada (radyAllahu anhu) began to make excuses, saying that he was busy and could not do it. The next day he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) again asked about this debt, and Abu Qatada said that he had paid it. Then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said that only now did this man receive relief in the grave - because his debts were finally paid.

We can observe a similar practice in our funeral ceremonies, when one of the family members of the deceased asks if he owes someone so that they can pay his debts. This is a really important thing - not just a ritual action, it is important. The most important thing here - I would like to repeat once again - a person must be able to manage his debts and pay them. Now I am not mentioning the various student loans - you can or cannot take them, whether it is allowed or not, this is not the subject of my conversation today. Today we are talking about debts in general.

So, as I already said, if you have to borrow money, do it in real need, and not just to indulge your passions. Another hadith states that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “If you borrow while in need and have a firm intention to pay off your debts, Allah will help you.” If you borrow money in a very difficult situation, for an important, compelling reason, you have a firm intention to pay off this debt, you have calculated your capabilities, then Allah will help you. If you take money simply to spend on some trifles, without a real need, and at the same time without a firm intention to return it, the hadith says - this money will become a source of destruction and harm for you. That is, there will be no barakah in them. And it will be very difficult for you to return them - if you want to return them.

Today I would like to discuss with you a few duas that help in this situation. Many people struggle with having debt in their lives - it can be both short-term and long-term debt. There are about 14 or 15 duas mentioned in the hadiths on this topic, in which the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) taught us to seek protection from debts. I will list some of them - which should become part of your daily duas. If you do not have debts at the moment, these duas will also be useful for you, since in them we seek protection from such situations - when we need to borrow.

Aisha (radyAllahu anha) reports that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to read the following dua during the last sitting in prayer, between tashshahud and salam. After reading salawat to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), you can read this dua. Some people read the dua “Rabbana Atina” at this time, you can read this dua - especially in nafil prayers. Since this hadith is transmitted from Aisha, most likely it was a prayer that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed at home, and not in a mosque, it was some kind of nafil prayer - perhaps tahajjud prayer. Because during fard prayers she could not be so close to him that she could hear his dua. Scholars of the Hanafi madhhab encourage reading additional duas during the desired prayers.

Al-lahumma, inni a"uzu bi-kya min al-ma"sami wa-l-magram

O Allah, I ask You for protection from the “masam”, this word comes from "ism", sin, and from "magram"- it comes from “mukharam”, responsibility, burden, which usually means debts. "I seek Your protection from sin and from debt". Debts, since they usually place a burden on a person, make him feel responsible for them.

Someone asked the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) - apparently, he often read this dua, that not only Aisha heard it: “Why do you so often ask for protection from debts?” This hadith is reported in Sahih al-Bukhari. He replied: “Debt can bring out the worst in you. A person, having a duty, can speak and at the same time lie ... "- what else can he say when the time comes to pay, but he does not have the means to pay or he does not want to do it? I myself have heard similar excuses - all kinds of fantastic, extraordinary stories people have made up in order not to pay: “I had money yesterday, but I lost it...”, “I had money, but then my son came and asked for it...” . Sometimes debts turn into a chain - you take money from someone, while you give it to someone else, and say that I will pay you when that person gives it to me. And that person, in turn, gives this money to someone else and waits for that person to give it to him. And if someone in this chain does not repay the debt on time, then everyone else does not receive it either.

So, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said that, “When borrowing, a person speaks and at the same time lies; he makes promises and then breaks them.” Therefore, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made dua to Allah so many times so that He would not put him in such a position. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), unfortunately, often had to borrow - but usually he gave some of his property as collateral. Before he died, it turned out that he had taken out a loan, pledging his chain mail as collateral. That is, he did not take out a loan just like that - he gave some kind of security against his debt, it was not just a pure debt. In this case, if you cannot pay, your lender can take the property.

The following hadith, which is narrated in Majmaw z-Zawaid, says that if someone takes out a loan and does not have the sincere intention of paying it back, or at least on time (“I said that I will pay it back in two months, but in fact I will return it in a year"), and in this state a person dies (without paying the debt and not being able to repay), then he will appear before Allah as a thief. He did not commit theft in the real sense of the word - when a person takes something without asking, on the sly, he asked permission, but he took without intending to return it, so he will be equal to the one who steals, takes without asking.

Let's mention one more dua. Aisha (radyAllahu anha) reports - this hadith is also given in Sahih al-Bukhari, - the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to read the following dua, - sometimes shorter versions of this dua are given, but this is part of a long dua.

Allahumma inni ‘auzu bika min ‘azabil-kabri is a famous dua that is read in the last sitting after tashshahud, “Oh Allah, I seek protection from the torment of the grave,”

wa fitnatil-masihi-d-dajjal - and from the turmoil of Dajjal,

va fitnatil-mahya val-mamati - from all the trials of this life and from the hardships of death.

min al-ma'sami wal-magram - from sin and from burden. Both important and small requests are mentioned.

The following hadith is narrated from Abu Hurayra (radyAllahu anhu), who narrates that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When you lie down on your bed (lay down to rest, for example) and read the following dua:

Allahumma Rabba-ssamawati wa Rabbal-ardy wa Rabba al-Arshil-Azym Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shey salikal-habbi wa nnawa wa munzila t-Taurat wa l-Injil wal-Furqan. Auzubika min sharri culli shey. Anta Akhizun binasyatihi. Allahumma Antal-Avvalyu faleysa kablyakya shey wa Antal Ākhhiru falaysa ba'dakya shey wa Anta zZahiru faleysa faukaka shey. va Antal batinu falyaisa dunakya shey. Ikdi anna deina va agnina minal-faqr.

O God, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, and Lord of the great throne, our Lord, and Lord of all. One who produces plants and fruits from seeds. He who sent down the Taurat, the Injil and the Quran, I seek Your protection from the evil of everything that You control - from everything that is under Your control and in which there may be evil, I seek protection from You. After all, You are the First, and there was nothing before You, and You are the Last, and nothing will happen after You, and You are Explicit, and there is nothing above You, and You are Hidden, and there is nothing below You….

And the most important part:

Ikdi anna deina - pay our debts, help us pay our debts - whatever they may be. Here we mean not only monetary debts, but other obligations to someone, including our debts to Allah. va agnina minal-faqr - save us from want and poverty.

If you can, read the entire dua, if not, then at least the last part.

In the Sunan, Abu Dawud Ali (radyAllahu anhu) conveys the following version of the dua:

Allahumma inni auzu biwajhikal-karim wa kalimatikat-tamma min sharri ma anta akhizun binasyatih, Allahumma anta takshiful-mag'rama wal-masam. Allahumma la yuhzamu junduk, wa la yuhlafu va'duk, wa la yanfau zal-jaddi minkal-jadd, subhanaka wa bihamdik.

O Allah, I resort to You through Your noble Face and perfect words from the evil of everything that is subject to You. O Allah, You relieve us from debts and sins. O Allah, Your army is invincible, Your promise is not broken, and the power of the powerful will be useless before You.”

A short dua that Tabarani conveys to Mujmaul-kabir from Salman al-Farisi (radyAllahu anhu):

Ikdi anni ddeina va agnina minal-faqr

What follows is a very comprehensive dua - if you learn it it will be quite helpful. Abu Said al-Khudri (radyAllahu anhu) reports that one day when the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) entered the mosque, there was a companion from the Ansar there. And the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked him:

Auzubillahi minal-kufri wa ddein

I resort to the protection of Allah from kufr - unbelief and from debts.

We ask Allah to free us from the need for someone else, to make us happy with what He has allowed us, and if we have debts, to relieve us of them as soon as possible. And so that Allah will save us from such need that we are forced to go into debt. Amine.

Hadiths about food

Verily, Allah Almighty has distributed your character among you, just as He has distributed your inheritance among you. And truly, Allah Almighty grants this peace to those whom He loves and to those whom He does not love. However, He does not give religion to anyone except the one He loves!

Predestination of destiny

“Verily, each of you is formed in the womb of his mother for forty days in the form of a drop of semen, then he remains there for the same amount of time in the form of a blood clot and for the same period in the form of a piece of flesh. And then an angel is sent to him, who blows the spirit into him, and is ordered to write down four things: the destiny of a person, the duration of his life, his deeds, and also whether he will be happy or unhappy.”

“Allah completed four things for the son of Adam: his appearance, character, destiny and term.”

“Jabaril inspired me that a person will not die until his time comes and until he has exhausted his destiny.”
“Oh people! Fear Allah and strive for your destiny in the best possible way, because truly, not a single soul will die until it receives its destiny in full, even if there is a delay.”

Sources of increased food

“If you want a great inheritance, to live a long time, treat your relatives well.”

“If you had complete trust and hope in Allah, He would feed you just as He feeds the birds.”

“Every day two angels descend to a person. One of them says: “O Allah! Increase the food for the one who gives,” and the second one says: “O Allah! Destroy the property of the one who is greedy."

“O son of Adam, devote yourself to Me for worship, and I will fill your heart with wealth, I will cover your poverty, but if you do not devote yourself to Me, then I will fill your hands with work and I will not cover your poverty.”

Allah's Promise

“Behold, your Lord declared: “If you are grateful, I will give you even more. And if you are ungrateful, then the torment from Me will be grievous” (14:7).

“I said: “Ask your Lord for forgiveness, for He is the All-Forgiving. He will send down abundant rains from the sky, support you with wealth and children, grow gardens for you, and create rivers for you” (71:10-12).

“Say: “Verily, my Lord increases or limits the provision of those of His servants whom He wills. He will repay whatever you spend. He is the Best of Providers” (34:39).

“Whoever fears Allah, He creates a way out of the situation and gives him a destiny from where he does not even imagine” (65: 2-3).

The hadith-qudsi says: “O son of Adam! Dedicate yourself to worshiping Me, I will fill your heart with wealth, bless your lot and instill peace in your body. Do not be careless in remembering Me. If you begin to forget Me, I will fill your heart with need, your body with fatigue and suffering, and your soul with care and anxiety. If you knew how long you have left to live, you would renounce your remaining hopes.”

"O son of Adam, spend and I will spend on you"

Deprivation of food

“Indeed, a person is deprived of food because of the sin he has committed.”

“Whoever is in need and turns to people to get rid of it, they will not help get rid of it. And whoever is in need and turns to Allah with it, He will certainly send him his provision sooner or later.”

Dua for debt

One day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered his mosque and saw his saddened companion, who said: “I am in grief and sadness, I am overcome by debts, and there is no money to pay them.”

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Shouldn’t I teach you a prayer, read it and everything that burdens you will disappear?”

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) instructed him to read the following dua in the mornings and evenings:

Allahumma, inni a'uzu bi-kya min al-hammi wa-l-khazani, wa-l-'ajzi wa-l-kasali, wa-l-bukhli wa-l-jubni wa dala'i-d-dayni wa galabati-r-rijal.

“O Allah, truly I seek Your help from anxiety and sadness, weakness and negligence, stinginess and cowardice, the burden of debt and oppression of people.”

Borrow a certain amount of material resources. In such cases, the question always arises of timely repayment of the debt. If there is an opportunity to return what we have borrowed, but this is not done intentionally, then we become oppressors and fall into sin. The hadith reported by Imam at-Tirmidhi states: “For a debtor who had the opportunity to repay the debt but did not do so, the sin of the oppressor will be recorded daily.” . May the Almighty protect us from such acts!

But sometimes debts can be so huge that repaying them becomes a big problem for us. Anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation should ask the lender for a deferment in payment. In this case, you need to show maximum efforts to repay the debt, including selling property that is not absolutely necessary. It is also advisable on the part of the lender to meet the debtor halfway, to delay the repayment of the debt, and in case of extreme poverty, to completely forgive the borrowed amount. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Whoever gives in debt is given the goodness of alms for every day. Anyone who is not in a hurry to receive a debt from a poor person is given the same goodness for each day as if he had given all his property as alms." (al-Hakim).

Are there duas that can help you get rid of debt?

The Messenger of God ﷺ taught Mu'adh ibn Jabal the following prayer from the sacred (verses 26-27 of Surah Al-Imran) for getting rid of debts:

Transcription: “Allahumma malika-l-mulki tu’ti-l-mulka mann tashau wa tanzi’u-l-mulka mimmann tashau wa tu’izzu mann tashau wa tuҙillu mann tashau biyadika-l-hairu innaka ‘ala kulli shayin ḱadirun. Tuliju llayla fi nnahari wa tuliju nnahari fi llayli wa tukhriju-l-ẍayyya mina-l-mayiti wa tukhriju-l-mayyita mina-l-ẍayyi wa tarzuḱu min tashau bigayri ẍisab.

Ya Raẍmana ddunya wa-l-ahirati wa raẍimuhuma, tu’i mann tashau minha wa tamna’u mann tashau, irẍamni raẍmatan tugnini biha ‘an raẍmati man sivak” .

Meaning: “O Allah, Lord of all things! You give to whomever you wish, and you take away from whomever you wish. Everything happens according to your will; You exalt whomever you wish and humiliate whomever you wish. You give all the blessings. Verily, You have power over all things. You lengthen the day at the expense of the night and lengthen the night at the expense of the day. You bring the living out of the dead and you bring the dead out of the living (that is, you turn seeds into plants, and plants into seeds, etc.). You give inheritance without counting to whomever you wish,” and you grant inheritance without counting to whomever you wish.

Question:Assalamualaikum. The man fell into debt. How to get rid of debts? Are there any prayers and guidelines in Islam that can help you get rid of debt?

Answer:Wa alaikum assalaam. Almost every person at least once in his life has encountered debt, borrowed from someone or someone, found himself in situations in which, willy-nilly, he found himself in debt, etc. Sometimes the size of debts can be so large that they exceed a person’s entire property. But even to such situations in Islam there is an answer, a way out of them is indicated.

From Abu Said al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once came to the mosque and saw a man there who was called Abu Umama. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: “O Abu Umamat, why do I see you in the mosque, not during prayer?” Abu Umama replied: “Worries and debts have overwhelmed me, O Messenger of Allah.” “Shall I teach you words through which the Almighty will free you from worries and debts?” - asked the Prophet. “Teach, O Messenger of Allah,” said Abu Umama. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Before going to bed and after waking up from sleep, say:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن وأعوذ بك من العجز والكسل وأعوذ بك من البخل والجبن وأعوذ بك من غلبة الدين وقهر الرجال. قال: فقلت ذلك فأذهب الله عز وجل همي وقضى عني ديني

“Allahumma inni a'uzu bika mina l-hammi wa l-huzni wa a'uzu bika min al-'ajzi wa l-kasali wa a'uzu bika minal buhli wa l-jubni wa a'uzu bika min g'alabati-ddaini wa kagyri-rijal.”

“O Allah, I will ask for Your protection from worries and sadness, I will ask for Your protection from weakness and laziness, I will also ask for Your protection from stinginess and greed, from being overcome by debts, and from the violence of people.” Abu Umama said: “I said these words, and Allah relieved me of worries and repaid my debts.” (Abu Daoud)

Ibn "Abu Ddunya" also reports a hadith from Mu"az ibn Jabal

“I complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I had debts. He asked me: “O Mu’az, do you want to be free from debt?” “Oh yes!” - I answered.

Then he read the verses to me.”

These were verses 26 and 27 from Surah Al-i "Imran:

[الجزء: ٣ | آل عمران (٣)| الآية: ٢٦- ٢٧ ]

“In the name of Allah, the Beneficent and the Merciful! Say: “O Allah, Master of all things! You give to whomever you wish, and you take away from whomever you wish. Everything happens according to your will; You exalt whomever you wish and humiliate whomever you wish. You give all good things. Verily, You have power over all things. You lengthen the night by shortening the day, and you lengthen the day by shortening the night. You make the dead alive and the living - dead, that is, you turn seeds into plants, and plants into seeds, a date pit into a palm tree, and from a palm tree dates, etc., and you give, without counting, inheritance to whomever you wish.” (3:26-27)

“Rahmanu ddunya wa l-ahirati wa rahimukhuma, tu’ti mann tashau minha wa tamna’u mann tashau, irhamni rahmatan tugnini biha ’an rahmati mann siuaka.”

“O Most Gracious of this world and the world to come, O Allah, the Merciful, give me from Yourself and remove my debts!”

After reading this, He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Even if you owe someone all the gold in the world, you will still be freed from debt!”

Dua, which the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) advised to read to get rid of debts

Hadiths about food:

Verily, Allah Almighty has distributed your character among you, just as He has distributed your inheritance among you. And truly, Allah Almighty grants this peace to those whom He loves and to those whom He does not love. However, He does not give religion to anyone except the one He loves!

Sources of increased food:

“If you want a great inheritance, to live a long time, treat your relatives well.”

“If you had complete trust and hope in Allah, He would feed you just as He feeds the birds.”

“Every day two angels descend to a person. One of them says:

“Oh Allah! Increase food for the one who gives." and the second one says:

“Oh Allah! Destroy the property of the one who is greedy."

“O son of Adam, devote yourself to Me for worship, and I will fill your heart with wealth, I will cover your poverty, but if you do not devote yourself to Me, then I will fill your hands with work and I will not cover your poverty.”

“Behold, your Lord declared: “If you are grateful, I will give you even more. And if you are ungrateful, then the torment from Me will be grievous” (14:7).

“I said: “Ask your Lord for forgiveness, for He is the All-Forgiving. He will send down abundant rains from heaven for you, support you with wealth and children, grow gardens for you, and create rivers for you” (71:10-12).

The Hadith Qudsi says:

“O son of Adam!

“Indeed, a person is deprived of food because of the sin he has committed.”

“Whoever is in need and turns to people to get rid of it, they will not help get rid of it. And whoever is in need and turns to Allah with it, He will certainly send him his destiny sooner or later.”

One day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered his mosque and saw his saddened companion, who said:

“I am in grief and sadness, I am overcome with debts, and there is no money to pay them off.”

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Should I teach you a prayer, read it and everything that burdens you will disappear?”

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed him to read the following dua in the mornings and evenings:

Allahumma, inni a'uzu bi-kya min al-hammi wa-l-khazani, wa-l-'ajzi wa-l-kasali, wa-l-bukhli wa-l-jubni wa dala'i-d-daini wa galabati-r-rijal.

“O Allah, truly I resort to Your help from anxiety and sadness, weakness and negligence, stinginess and cowardice, the burden of debt and oppression of people.”

The best dua to get rid of debts

From Abu Said al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once came to the mosque and saw a man there who was called Abu Umama. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: “O Abu Umamat, why do I see you in the mosque, not during prayer?” Abu Umama replied: “Worries and debts have overwhelmed me, O Messenger of Allah.” “Shall I teach you words through which the Almighty will free you from worries and debts?” – asked the Prophet. “Teach, O Messenger of Allah,” said Abu Umama. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Before going to bed and after waking up from sleep, say:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن وأعوذ بك من العجز والكسل وأعوذ بك من البخل والجبن وأعوذ بك من غلبة الدين وقهر الرجال. قال: فقلت ذلك فأذهب الله عز وجل همي وقضى عني ديني

« Allahumma inni a'uzu bika mina l-hammi wa l-huzni wa a'uzu bika min al-'ajzi wa l-kasali wa a'uzu bika minal bukhli wa l-jubni wa a'uzu bika min g'alabati-ddayni wa kagyri -rijal».

« O Allah, I will forgive Your protection from worries and sadness, I will forgive Your protection from weakness and laziness, I will also forgive Your protection from stinginess and greed, from being overcome by debts, and from the violence of people.” Abu Umama said: “I said these words, and Allah relieved me of worries and repaid my debts" (Abu Daoud)

Ibn ‘Abu Ddunya also reports a hadith from Mu’adh ibn Jabal

“I complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I had debts. He asked me: “O Mu’az, do you want to be free from debt?” "Oh yeah!" - I answered.

Then he read the verses to me.”

These were verses 26 and 27 from Surah Al-i 'Imran:

« In the name of Allah, the Beneficent and the Merciful! You make the dead alive and the living - dead, that is, you turn seeds into plants, and plants into seeds, a date pit into a palm tree, and from a palm tree dates, etc., and you give, without counting, inheritance to whomever you wish " (3:26-27)

“Rahmanu ddunya wa l-akhrati wa rahimukhuma, tu’ti man tashau minha wa tamna’u mann tashau, irhamni rahmatan tugnini biha ‘an rahmati mann sivaka.”

« O Most Gracious of this world and the world to come, O Allah, the Merciful, give me from Yourself and remove my debts! ».

After reading this, He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Even if you owe someone all the gold in the world, you will still be freed from debt!”

Therefore, one should more often turn to Allah Almighty with a prayer for forgiveness. In addition to the forgiveness of sins, Allah, by His Generosity, grants us prosperity and prosperity.

The best dua to get rid of debts

Ibn ‘Abi Dunya narrates a hadith from Mu’az ibn Jabal

“I complained to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that I had debts.

He asked me: “O Mu’az, do you want to be free from debt?”

- "Oh yeah!" - I answered.

Then he read the verses to me.”

These were verses 26 and 27 from Surah Al-i 'Imran.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent and the Merciful! Say: “O Allah, Lord of the kingdom! You give dominion to whomever you wish, and you take away dominion from whom you wish; You exalt whomever you wish and humiliate whomever you wish. In Your right hand is good. Verily, You have power over all things. You lengthen the night by shortening the day, and you lengthen the day by shortening the night. You make the dead alive and the living dead and give, without counting, inheritance to whomever you wish.” (3:26-27)

Mu'az ibn Jabal further continued: “And then (the Messenger) added a prayer (du'a): “O Most Gracious of this world and the world to come, O Allah, the Merciful, give me from Yourself and remove my debts!” I read it and said: “Even if you owe someone all the gold in the world, you will still be free from debt!”

According to another hadith, he said: “O Jabal, I will teach you such a verse that when you read it, Allah will help you get rid of your debt, even if it is like Mount Uhud!”

These were the same verses from Surah Al-i ‘Imran. About the merits of this surah, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-‘Imran on Friday, Allah will send down from His bounties until sunset, and the angels will ask for forgiveness of his sins.”

Why don't men dress according to the Sunnah?

By the Will of Allah, the number of observant Muslims has increased significantly over the past few years. Mosques do not accommodate worshipers for Friday prayers, and many pray on the premises of the mosque. The number of women wearing the hijab increases every year, although Islamic clothing is unusual for society from post-Soviet countries with an atheistic upbringing. And it is unusual even for countries with a Muslim population

  • Henna, which colors and heals, is the sunnah of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him)

“Whatever (cut or stab) wound befell the Prophet (peace be upon him), he would certainly apply henna to it.” (Reported in the collection of at-Tirmidhi, a hadith from Salma ummu Rafi’, the Prophet’s maidservant)

  • Son or daughter?

In the pre-Islamic period, the Arabs had a common custom of burying their newborn girls alive, because they were less valued than sons, and moreover, the birth of girls was perceived as a misfortune. Unfortunately, in our time, many nations have not yet outlived the custom, according to which it is generally accepted that the birth of a boy is better than the birth of a girl. How delighted parents are when their son is the first to be born, and how sad they are when their daughter appears. These are all prejudices and have nothing to do with Islam. Fortunately, today girls are not buried, but only show dissatisfaction with their birth and are upset / But this attitude of the parents subsequently has a very negative impact on the daughter, who begins to feel like a burden and an unwanted child.

HOW TO GET RID OF DEBT?

The man fell into debt. How to get rid of debts? Are there any prayers and guidelines in Islam that can help you get rid of debt?

Almost every person at least once in his life has encountered debt, borrowed from someone or someone, found himself in situations in which, willy-nilly, he found himself in debt, etc. Sometimes the size of debts can be so large that they exceed a person’s entire property. But even to such situations in Islam there is an answer, a way out of them is indicated.

    Prayer for repayment of debts

It is highly advisable for anyone who has debts to turn to Allah with the following prayers:

    اللّهُـمَّ اكْفِـني بِحَلالِـكَ عَنْ حَـرامِـك، وَأَغْنِـني بِفَضْـلِكِ عَمَّـنْ سِـواك

Translation: " O Allah, make sure that what is permitted by You frees me from the need to turn to what is forbidden by You, and by Your mercy free me from the need for anyone other than You!»

Translation: “O Allah, verily, I resort to You from anxiety and sadness, weakness and negligence, stinginess and cowardice, the burden of debt and from what most often happens to people.”

    1) First of all, one of the most effective ways to increase worldly wealth is to read the Koran. The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: « In a home where the Qur'an is often read, grace multiplies» . This refers to all grace, both moral and material. Another hadith says: « In a home where the Qur'an is read little, the benefit decreases.» - that is, the residents of this house are experiencing various difficulties. Also, this house is shunned by angels and the devils are more present in it.

Thus, through reading the Quran, according to the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), grace will settle in your home.

There is Surah al-Waqi ‘a in the Quran (Sura 56), about which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: « Anyone who reads Surah al-Waqi'a at night is protected from poverty.» . Both the companions and their followers (tabiin) resorted to this method in order not to experience need.

    2) The next means that contributes to the prosperity of the believer is the glorification of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: « Indeed, whoever reads the Quran gives praise to Allah. He who glorifies the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) draws grace from the source». In a hadith narrated by Ubay ibn Ka'bu (may Allah be pleased with him), it is said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked how much time should be devoted to glorification. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) answered the companion: « Dedicate all your time to glorifying the Messenger of Allah, then you will be deprived of all problems, hardships, worries and all your sins will be forgiven».

    3) Further, in order for the Almighty to increase a believer’s worldly wealth, one should not sleep after morning prayer until sunrise. In the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), transmitted by Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), it is said: “Sleeping after morning prayer deprives you of worldly wealth”. Further, another hadith says: "The grace of my ummah spreads at dawn"- that is, at the beginning of the day, after morning prayer. The hadith says: “If they knew how much reward and grace there is in morning and afternoon prayers, then they would crawl towards them.” This is the time of grace, and one should perform prayers on time, without delay, and not go to bed before sunrise.

Another hadith also says: « Anyone who performs morning prayer in a group is under the protection of Allah until the evening. Anyone who performs night prayer in a group is under the protection of Allah until dawn» . When the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) was lying down after morning prayer, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passing by her, said: « O my daughter, arise, be awake and be present at the moment when the Lord distributes the inheritance of His creations and do not be among the careless, verily, the Almighty distributes the worldly inheritances for people between dawn and sunrise» . Therefore, it is extremely undesirable to sleep during this period of time.

A person in debt has the right to receive financial assistance from the zakat fund, if there are funds available. Therefore, anyone who has debts that he is not able to pay on his own can contact any mosque and ask for help. However, it must be taken into account that a debtor wishing to receive funds from the zakat fund must meet several conditions:

    1) The reason for the debt must be permissible according to Islamic norms. For example, if a person was engaged in commercial activities permitted under Sharia and went bankrupt. And if a person fell into debt because of the forbidden, for example, he was engaged in the sale of alcohol and went broke, then such a person is not provided with assistance from zakat funds. If a Muslim regrets that he did something unlawful and sincerely repents of what he did, he can also count on receiving zakat.

    2) The debtor must be a Muslim. Non-Muslims are not provided with zakat assistance.

    3) The debtor must be reciting the obligatory five times prayer. If a person does not pray, he will also not receive help from zakat.

When repaying a debt, it is very advisable to make a dua to the borrower in the following words:

    بارَكَ اللهُ لَكَ في أَهْلِكَ وَمالِك، إِنَّما جَـزاءُ السَّلَفِ الْحَمْدُ والأَداء

Translation: “May Allah bless your family and your wealth! Verily, the reward for a loan is praise and repayment of the debt!”

Another sunnah is to return a little more than what you borrowed, if possible.

Anyone who has debts, and the deadline for their repayment has already arrived, is prohibited (haram) from giving alms without the permission of the creditor, buying something expensive that does not correspond to his status, or spending on something unnecessary that is not vitally necessary. It is also forbidden to go even for the obligatory Hajj. If a person has debts, but the deadline for their repayment has not yet arrived, there is no prohibition on all of the above.
