How to make a coupler in the shower. Organization of sides, steps and the basis of the cabin. Features of shower design

Recently, the shower is a mandatory attribute of our bathroom, often replacing the bath itself. However, its cost, the complexity of installation, as well as the waterproofing of the shower cubicle and the features of care are repelling factors in its operation. At the end of the article, we prepared for you a high-quality selection of video materials from open sources.

At first glance, the problem will seem significant, but for a professional to equip a bathroom with this important subject will be a simple task that can be done in a couple of days. During the installation of the cabin, it is necessary to take into account a lot of nuances, the specifics of the design, since leveling at least one of the points of the algorithm can, afterwards, reduce all efforts to zero.

Initially, decide for yourself whether there will be a bathroom with an additional structure and a full bathroom, or without it. Most people come to the conclusion that the last attribute is not so important, so they do without it. We'll tell you how to create a shower without a bath.

Figure number 1. Wet areas in the shower room

Having defined the place of installation of the cabin, it is necessary to proceed to the choice of its shape, according to the peculiarities of the room and personal preferences. Optimal in terms of placement and the ratio of price-quality is a square type. Installation in the corner will allow you to freely place the rest of the plumbing and accessories. In addition, you will need to build only two additional walls, including the entrance, and this is a significant savings on materials.

Analyzing the dimensions, the layout of the planned construction is made, taking into account the walls and the floor. The bunk can be built, both with high panels, and go under the ceiling, which will make it a separate hermetic shower component. After this, it becomes clear how much the future construction will occupy, and what area will remain for the rest of the needs.

Material selection

The construction market is very rich in the choice of the necessary components for the booth. Capital buildings, such as walls, it is better to do immediately from the brick. Prefabricated elements are preferably made of fiberglass, and their cost is quite acceptable. In addition, it is necessary to purchase entrance doors or sashes, guides under the base, fasteners, pallet, sanitary components, pipes, drains, gaskets, all kinds of seals and related materials.

The walls are usually decorated with ceramic tiles installed on tile glue. This will have to buy a grout, plinth, sealant. The final view of the shower only gets after installing multiple shelves, mirror elements, hooks, handrails, etc.

What tools will be required?

Preferably acquire universal tools and tools. We are talking about tile cutter, Bulgarian, spatula, hammer, drill, gun sealant, pliers, trowels, a set of keys and screwdrivers. Take care of all sorts of measuring components. This can be the usual level, plumb, roulette and much more.

Floor waterproofing

It is very important that the waterproofing of the floor in the shower is made of quality and reliable elements. Correct laying it is a guarantee of durability and comfortable operation of the shower room. It is recommended to protect the entire room, not just the booth and pallet.

Communication Decision

Initially, it is necessary to determine how the shower heads, hoses, mixers and other components will be positioned. It is desirable to understand where to place them. In the designated place they are fixed on the wall. Often, they are laid in the foundation with additional cladding. It is necessary to understand the location of future taps and connection points with communications. The remaining actions are carried out at the end of the stages presented, including installation and finishing operations.

Pallet Organization

On how well the waterproofing of the floor in the shower, the cockpit shower tray, depends on the efficiency of the drain, as well as the performance characteristics of the entire structure, and, consequently, the overall impression of this element of the bathroom. Naturally, it is necessary to take care of neighbors from below, so as not to flood them.

Usually the choice is limited to classical pallets made of plastic or metal, as this is practical, affordable and easy to install. Install the design is not difficult. Take into account - when building a shower cabin you have to start from the size of its lower part. But, making a room on your own projects, it is logical to create a pallet shape of an excellent standard.

Picture number 2. The tray is in section

Initially, it is worthwhile to understand where the water flow in the shower room will be, since the installation begins with it. It is important that its height relative to the floor level is not less than 200mm. Further the remaining calculations are made. Water must be diverted to the main sewerage system.

Now it's logical to start the pallet. The stock must be poured into a metal pipe with a large diameter, which will allow the building components, under their weight, not to affect the water drainage and not to damage it. Fastening of the pipe to the floor is ensured by clamps. Then the entire facade lower part is closed with a brick, which will be the base of the pallet. Further, the screed is made at a height of less than 70 mm with respect to the drainage of the shower room, since it will still require the laying of the leveling material and the tiling. Do not forget about the organization of a slope under the drain of water, in connection with which, the thresholds are built.

After the first layer of the screed is poured, a certain time is required to dry it, and then the self-aligning mixtures and finishing components are used.

Organization of sides, steps and base of the cabin

Now you can think about whether you need to do additional deepening and organizing a place to sit in the cabin, or do without it. These ideas should be implemented through a brick. The waterproofing of the shower enclosure as a whole, as well as its individual elements, is carried out by special materials. Of course, it is accompanied by plaster and final finishing.

Having finished the installation of the pallet, making it effective, i.e. with a certain slope for drainage, it is possible to proceed with further work. For decoration it is better to choose mosaic, porcelain tiles or tiles, the good of building elements today is represented quite a lot. It is important to pay maximum attention to the correct installation, especially in the areas of bypass drainage, the withdrawal of pipes and the problematic wet spaces of the future booth.

We collect the shower cabin ourselves

After preparing the supporting structure and the walls, you can proceed to the last two panels of fiberglass, including the entrance. Designated components are mounted in the following order.

To the walls are fixed special guides and profiles under the base. For this, classical fasteners, and dowels, through their installation in the ceiling, vertical elements, trimmings and so on, are also suitable. Here you can not do without additional drilling tiles.

Figure number 3. View of the shower enclosure after installation

After installing the guides, the input box is fixed. In the case where the cabin is mounted under the ceiling, then the base is fixed accordingly. Obtained strut, providing maximum rigidity and strength of the structure. Thus, one wall is fixed in four rigid bases, in the guide profile, the floor, the ceiling and the bearing spacer. The last one (entrance) is mounted even easier. Its fixation is performed on the wall, floor and ceiling.

The input options can be different, including in the form of a simple screen, door, etc. and here you need to be guided by your own preferences and taste. Ideal, in terms of installation, is a sliding structure, which is easier to operate, more qualitative and functional. In addition, with its use, there will be absolutely no "sneaking" of the useful shower room space.

A shower without a shower tray is a convenient solution that saves space and gives the shower a more aesthetic look. Water along an inclined plane, trimmed with ceramic tiles, flows into a specially designed drain (ladder) and is diverted to the public sewerage system. Since moisture has direct contact with the surface, first of all you need a quality waterproofing shower without a pallet. For this, different insulation materials are used, each of which, if properly applied, can provide reliable moisture protection of the room.

The bathroom is usually not very large, especially in old houses. Therefore, each square meter is worth its weight in gold. The factory pallet, as a rule, takes up a lot of place in the shower room. In this case, it does not provide useful space, so many refuse such an attribute, preferring a soul without a pallet.

The absence of a cumbersome element contributes to a more interesting organization of the internal space. In addition, this shower creates additional conveniences for people with weak physical capabilities, since in this case there is no need to cross the high rim.

From the economic point of view, a shower device without a pallet also has its advantages. This attribute (pallet), made of high-quality material, is worth a lot of money. In addition, he needs constant care, which requires additional costs. Therefore, his absence saves money in the family budget.

Shower without pallet - the best solution for saving space and money

Features of shower design

Behind the external simplicity of the shower without a pallet lies a complex system. To maintain all the points (draining in the bathroom floor, waterproofing, correct bias), a height margin of at least 150 mm is required. And this despite the fact that the floor level should be lower than in other rooms. It is advisable to provide this criterion even during the design of the house, otherwise you will have to raise the floor and make a rim around the perimeter of the shower room.

Floor arrangement

Under a neat layer of ceramic tiles is a real "pie", each level of which performs an important function.

The lower layer is a concrete base, which acts as a support for the entire structure. Next, put a heater, made of dense foam or polystyrene foam. Then there are two layers of screed, between which is the waterproofing.

Important! Waterproofing plays a decisive role in the arrangement of a shower without a pallet. For apartments of high-rise buildings, it is of particular importance, since it prevents flooding of neighbors from below.

Floor installation in the shower room

The drainage ladder is installed on the concrete base in the designated place, and the drainage pipe is connected to the general sewerage system. If the sink is installed in the center of the shower room, then it should have a slope of 3% from all sides. When disposing of the sink in the shower without a pallet in the corner of the room, a slope of 2% is maintained.

Zones of special attention

In addition to the floor, there are other surfaces in the shower that need good waterproofing. The so-called wet zones include:

  • seams between the wall and the floor;
  • the lower part of the wall;
  • an area on the wall that is exposed to water during showering;
  • pipes that collect condensate, and the places of their tie into the base.

These surfaces are considered a zone of special attention, so they are carefully treated with waterproofing material.

Waterproofing of the floor in the shower room: basic methods

There are several ways of waterproofing the floor, each of which is effective in its own way. However, in order to obtain the desired result, it is necessary to withstand the correct technology and be able to work with the material.

Roll insulation

Waterproofing the floor in the shower without a pallet can be done using roll-on self-adhesive or weldable insulation materials. In this case, the preparation of the base is of great importance. In the presence of unevenness, the surface is leveled with a cement screed. The hardened base is treated with bituminous mastic, through which the material is rolled.

The strips are laid with overlap of 100 mm and the approach to the walls is about 150 mm. If a waterproofed waterproofing is used, then all joints are dissipated with a construction hair dryer. The edges of the self-adhesive waterproofing are pre-lubricated with special glue and tightly pressed.

Moisture-proofing of the floor in the bathroom with the help of the deposited roll material

Bitumen-polymer insulation

The next method of waterproofing the shower without a pallet is the use of bitumen-polymer mastic, which is sometimes called "liquid rubber". The main advantage of this method is the ease of application of the material and the absence of complex preparation.

The surface must be cleaned and primed before applying the mastic. "Liquid rubber" is applied with a brush, the thickness of the layer is maintained within 2-4 mm. All joints around the pipes and drainage, as well as the seam between the floor and the wall, are especially carefully processed. After the polymerization of the mastic, a reliable waterproofing layer is formed.

Floor treatment with bitumen-polymer mastic

Polymer-cement compositions have good adhesion and high elasticity, so they are excellent for moisture insulation of the floor. Such mixtures consist of cement, quartz (white) sand and polymer additives, which, after filling all cracks and depressions, crystallize, forming a reliable protection from leaks.

Pre-prepared mixture is applied to a slightly moistened surface with a hard brush or spatula. Particular attention is paid to wet areas. After the first layer dries, it is moistened and a second layer is applied, while simultaneously leveling the surface with a spatula. As a rule, two levels are sufficient for a full moisture protection of the surface, however, if necessary, a third layer can be applied.

For your information. Unlike other methods of waterproofing the floor in the shower without a pallet, the polymer-cement composition does not require the use of an additional cement screed. After it has dried, you can start installing the tiles.

Application to the surface of polymer-cement composition

Penetrating insulation

The mixture of penetrating waterproofing material consists of special cement, quartz sand and chemically active components. Penetrating into the structure of concrete and filling its pores, the active elements react with cement, forming the structure of high-density crystals. Thus, the waterproof layer is formed not on the surface, but inside the concrete base.

Since the penetration reaction occurs only in the presence of water, the surface is well humidified before the composition is applied until it is completely saturated with moisture. The same technology of waterproofing the floor is similar to the method of applying bitumen mastic and polymer-cement insulation: the material is applied to the substrate with a brush, all wet areas are thoroughly treated.

In the case of penetrating waterproofing, the waterproof layer is the concrete itself

Moisture protection of walls

In the issue of waterproofing a shower without a pallet, protecting the walls from moisture also plays an important role. To implement it, the following steps are performed:

  1. The wall is cleaned of streaks, old paint and other contaminants.
  2. Defects of the surface (cracks, potholes, etc.) are sealed with an insulating compound, after which the entire wet zone is treated with a waterproofing material.
  3. In places that will be exposed to the greatest exposure to moisture, you can apply two layers of moisture protection.

For walls and floors, it is not necessary to use one type of waterproofing. For example, you can lay roll insulation on the floor, and use polymer-cement material for walls.

Council. Since the bathroom is a place with high humidity, it must be equipped with good ventilation. For reliable removal of moisture in the exhaust hole, a fan is installed, the power of which is selected in accordance with the area of the room.

Waterproofing of walls in the bathroom

Arrangement of a shower without a pallet is not such a simple process as it may seem initially. Surface treatment should be thorough, because any missed zone, even minimal, can lead to sad consequences in the future. Therefore, it is better to entrust this work to specialists who have good experience in waterproofing various rooms and facilities.

If the design of the shower cubicle does not take into account the presence of the pallet, the installation of hydro isolation is considered particularly important.

Those places of the shower cubicle, which are particularly susceptible to contact with water, must be very very carefully insulated with waterproofing. They are called wet territories by the soul. These include:

The device of a shower cubicle.

  1. The floor, where all the water flows in the shower, seeping into the floor panels from the concrete of the cabin.
  2. Connections between the floor and the walls, the lower parts of the walls.
  3. Sites of walls, on what water gets best.
  4. Stoats with pipes.

In places where the pipe goes through the floor base of the cabin without a pallet, there is always moisture, falling as droplets of water into the base of the concrete floor, and condensate appears on the pipes. Wet grounds of the shower are all remaining planes.

Necessary execution of technological conditions of hydro isolation means the finishing with specialized waterproofing materials of all joints and connections of walls and floor.

With all this, the main thing is not to forget to take into account the features of the installation works and the hydro isolation of the shower cabin drain without the pallet.

The draining system is placed in the floor screed, there and perform a special groove, covering all that is left with a mixture of concrete. Check the quality of the hydro isolation of the sink by pouring a little water into the siphon.

The device of a drainage gangway for hydro-isolation of a floor of a shower cabin without a pallet

How should the ladder be arranged

The device of the built-in ladder in the absence of a pallet (PICTURE 1) is done according to the scheme shown. The ladder to itself includes:

IMAGE 1 - The device of the built-in ladder in the absence of a pallet.

  1. A body that has an oblique or vertical type outlet.
  2. Decorative grating.
  3. Closing siphon, which does not allow to get bad flavors into the shower cubicle from the sewage system and through the decorative grating.

If the gangway is located in the center of the shower cubicle, as an option in the classical style, then the slope is built on the center of each of the four sides, then a 10x10 cm gangway is assembled. The method is used when the outlet is released to the floor. The construction of the drainage gangway of the shower cubicle is made taking into account the same slope of the floor in the direction of the drainage place, which should be under the angle, not more than 3%, so that there are no puddles.

The gangway can be installed with the edge of the shower cubicle floor, which is naturally covered with a specialized non-slip tile. In this case, a linear lattice of the ladder is used, and the floor is carried out with a slope of 2%. The lattice is hidden.

Insulation from water does not obey the presence and absence of a pallet, it represents the necessary to the minimum. The floor in the shower room should be placed slightly below the level of the plane of the floors in other rooms. If this is not the case, it is necessary to install a large door to separate the shower from the corridor in the hallway.

What materials for waterproofing are used to insulate the shower cubicle without a pallet

Very often used:

Scheme of the incoming hydro-isolation shower.

  1. The incoming insulation from moisture.
  2. Bituminous insulation.
  3. Polymer-cement moisture proofing.
  4. Paint insulation from moisture.

You should see the properties of different materials, depending on their varieties. A proven method of cutting off moisture is a roll hydroelectric protection. Materials used for hydro-isolation of shower rooms are formed on fiberglass and polymerized bitumen, which can be guided and self-adhesive. The insulators to be guided are glued using a gas burner, and the self-adhesive ones simply lie down. At a low price level, the insulator on the roll has a short working time.

At maximum, effective isolation from moisture is carried out using several materials. For all this, some of them are glued to the plane, others are spread on it in layers. For example, a wet concrete panel works as a basis for applying the falling hydro isolation and creating a waterproof barrier. It is often used waterproofing cloth, laying it with the use of glue for tiles for facing. Then they lay the tiles. Bituminous materials are protected by a screed made of concrete, because they are not distinguished by reliability to damage by mechanical means.

Scheme of bitumen hydro isolation of the shower cubicle.

The selection of the material is subject to its good parameters. The use of adhesive materials for hydro isolation is considered very common now. They are the coatings in a roll, made on bitumen base and modified polymers. This guarantees perfect floor waterproofing.

If the material method is considered fully self-adhesive, then it should be laid down, pressing against the plane and making an additional sizing. Self-adhesive coatings can be carefully divided along the plane without displacements and roughness. Apply such coatings only to large varieties. If the grade is low, then there is the possibility of using rubber and mastics on a polymer base with a bitumen additive. These hydrotreating compounds are considered strong, but also will be expensive.

The quality of the coupling can be increased by the addition of plasticizers for the purpose of giving the greatest flexibility. Distribute the mixture along the plane using a spatula with prongs.

The use of lubricating hydro-insulation is considered more durable. It is made on the basis of bitumen-rubber and bitumen-polymer mastics. These compounds are called liquid rubber, possessing a high level of flexibility and adhesion. Protection from external defects here is a screed made of cement.

Scheme of polymer-cement hydro-isolation of the shower cubicle.

Wall stuccoing of the shower cubicle without a pallet can be done by coating with waterproofing, which is a kind of materials based on polymer-cement compositions. Dry mixtures are closed with water, mastering the solution. They have great flexibility. For this, you will not need an additional screed.

The next type are polymeric mastics, embodying a more high-tech version of protection against humidity. It is based on the effect of a deeper impregnation of the substrate. The applied polymer mastics, when dried, create a stronger layer. Possessing great flexibility, he can pass a pair of water.

The composition of the incoming hydro isolation is sand based on quartz, which has a fine grinding. The isolator is formed on the basis of Portland cement and specialized chemicals. Contact with the wet surface is accompanied by a chemical reaction with particles of concrete. With all this, the formation of insoluble crystalline compounds, tightly sealing the concrete pores.

Strength of the base of concrete is significantly increased, and the continuation of the reaction is very long accompanied by the formation of new components that protect small cracks in the pores of concrete from moisture penetration. Increasing the reliability of the foundation is a consequence of crystalline formations, while the wall breathes.

The paint has a moisture-repellent substance, which guarantees a good quality waterproofing for the shower cubicle.

Selection of the insulator follows the type of the base of the plane for application of the composition. Concrete and polymer-cement compositions are often used for concrete bases. The porous brick walls are treated with bitumen mastics and polymer-cement membranes.

Variants of laying the hydro-isolation of the shower cubicle without the pallet with your own hands.

The work on the installation of hydro isolation requires a specialized permit from the BTI, if all work is related to laying the screed of concrete. Here it is necessary to follow the rule: to ensure the moisture-tightness of the connections between the floor, the surfaces of the walls and the drain in the shower room.

The use of waterproofing cloth laid on the screed with the help of glue is the most optimal option. Above and below the canvas is to go a layer of screed, and on top of the laying of tiles for the floor. This method is considered the most common, all the same for its good use it is necessary to get acquainted with the entire process of hydro isolation in advance.

When laying hydro isolation with your own hands, the first option should take into account a few basic points:

Scheme of hydro-isolation in the shower with your own hands.

  1. Installation of the drain cavity is carried out in a concrete screed by laying the entire drain structure and pouring with concrete.
  2. In the siphon pour a little water and control the quality of the sink.
  3. Laying the sealing strip is done with glue.
  4. Apply a specialized flexible profile to seal all connections.

The second option involves laying a layer of hydro-insulation (roofing paper or polyethylene) on the floor, fixing it with further laying of the coating. The insulator should have a specialized thickness and lie down to 15 cm overlap. With consideration of the floor surface, the reinforcement or screed is executed, and the concrete is poured into the concrete.

The stages of hydro-isolation of the floor with the use of different materials

Actions with the use of polymer-cement materials

Carrying out a strict procedure for working with polymer-cement materials with your own hands leads to a good hydro-isolation of the shower:

Cement mortar should be applied with a specialized brush with a hard pile in the corners of the shower room.

  1. Clean the floor from debris, dirt and dust, etc.
  2. Damp the floor.
  3. Stir all insulation ingredients according to the enclosed instruction.
  4. Bring the mixture to a homogeneous state.
  5. Apply the solution with a brush, which has a solid pile, on the surface of the walls and the floor from the bottom of the shower.
  6. Lay a polypropylene mesh or smear with an insulator at the outlet of communications, in other words, water and sewage lines, risers and pipes, floor and wall joints.
  7. Leave the first layer of insulator to dry for a certain period of time, as specified in the instructions.
  8. Moistening the surface again, apply a second waterproofing layer.
  9. Dry the second layer and begin the work on the finish.

How to use roll materials

The use of hydro-insulation in a roll will make it possible to substantially reduce all costs:

Application of rolls for hydro-isolation of the shower.

  1. Very carefully level the floor, rounding the joint between the floor and the walls with a cement-sand mixture.
  2. Cut the linen, given the overlap on the walls at 15-20 cm.
  3. It is possible to apply the solar oil on the pieces of the fabric, increasing its flexibility and increasing its adhesion to the base.
  4. Leave to lie day for leveling the entire plane of the cut canvas.
  5. Apply to the surface of a complete layer of mastic based on bitumen, laying the material for waterproofing, and very carefully rolled.
  6. Put a similar bituminous material with one more layer in the direction of the transverse first.
  7. Spread the prepared surface with heated mastic and pour a layer of quartz sand for better coupling of the screed with the insulator.

The effect of the work done will be good, except that the working time of these materials is relatively small. If the rolls create bubbles, they are cut with a sharp knife and pressed again.

Execution of incoming hydro-insulation by one's own hands

The use of the waterproofing mixture falling into the water requires a specific movement of the attached instructions. The execution of works with their own hands should be done in the following order:

Advantages of falling hydro isolation are penetration into the material up to 10 cm, increasing the resistance of the material, strength and durability.

  1. Cleaning the floor from debris, excess materials, dust, etc.
  2. The execution of the shtroba along the perimeter of the floor at the junction with the walls, its required size is 25x25 mm.
  3. Removing debris and wetting the plane.
  4. Watering with the water of the incoming material according to the instructions and priming with one layer of strobi.
  5. Preparation of suture falling material in the calculation of 1.5 kg of mixture per 1 m running shtroby.
  6. Wetting part of the bottom of the walls and the floor surface when the suture material is fully seized.
  7. Wetting the first layer of insulation after it has dried and coating the second one.
  8. Wetting surfaces sometimes for 2 or 3 days.
  9. Cleaning the walls after 21 days when the hydroprotection was applied, from the remains of cement with sand.
  10. Stacking of decorative coatings.

Using each of these technologies will provide an opportunity to achieve good results in the procedure of hydro-isolation of the shower room.

Tips for waterproofing walls and good quality work performance

To insulate the walls of the shower room, you can be guided by the following order of actions:

Before applying a layer of insulation on the walls of the shower cubicle, they must be leveled and saved from the old paint.

  1. Align the walls, removing the paint kotraya already obsolete.
  2. Make a primer mix and wait until the walls dry completely.
  3. Make a waterproof mix by mixing it very carefully.
  4. Apply with a brush one waterproofing layer.
  5. Wait until the material dries completely.
  6. Apply a subsequent layer.
  7. Align the wall and begin fixing the materials for finishing.

Without a ventilation device, the hydroprotection will be ineffective, since sticking the walls with a protective film does not save moisture. The insulation materials work only so that moisture can not penetrate the floors and walls. When the shower is very dry, humidity leaves the room. Ventilation is organized so that it takes away the moist air, and the shower remains dry.

  1. If the floor before applying the insulator is not leveled, then a lot of mastic may go away.
  2. For deep impregnation of the plane with insulation, it is moistened beforehand.
  3. Before applying the waterproofing mortar should be mixed until a uniform mass is obtained.
  4. The next layer is naturally applied after it has dried up before going to bed.
  5. The layer already applied to the mastic should be ideal.

The hydroprotection for a shower that does not have a pallet is considered especially significant, since the water accumulated on the floor can penetrate the neighbors through the floors, which is very undesirable and the incident may end. The quality of the installation of the ladder is subject to the need for repeated repairs. The strength of hydro-insulation will protect you from flooding the premises from the bottom.

Organize a shower room, but would like to do without banal solutions in the form of a pallet? Several secrets of the arrangement of floor waterproofing in the bathroom will help you create an exclusive interior that fully meets your requirements.

Do without a shower tray? No problem! Let's talk about how to isolate the floor in the shower from the negative effects of moisture.

When designing the premises in the house, special attention should be paid to the protection and safety of the floors and walls. Do not forget about the moisture insulation in the shower. Important is the possibility of installing a moisture barrier and drainage. A shower without a pallet is a simple and economical solution. This option is excellent for small areas.

Waterproofing the floor in the shower without a pallet is one of the most difficult and critical steps in bathroom finishing, especially if it is. It is necessary to consider many factors: resistance to the influence of adverse factors, protection from moisture, system functionality and aesthetics.

Photo: Waterproofing of floor in shower with coating mastic

To equip the drainage system, moisture insulation and inclined floor, an appropriate height margin should be provided - at least 15 cm. Otherwise, the floor level in the shower room will have to be made higher than in the other rooms. Waterproofing of the floor in the shower without a pallet should be carried out on the entire surface, not excluding draining.

The basic requirements for carrying out the moisture insulation of the floor in the shower

Surface preparation

Make sure that there are no various damages (cracks, chips) on the floor surface in the shower room. Clean the surface of debris, grease, dirt, dust. All protrusions and cracks should be closed and leveled. There should be no protruding screws and nails. The porous surface must be primed. Make a slope towards the drain.

Waterproofing materials

Waterproofing in the shower is necessary in order to prevent moisture from getting to the surface of walls and floor and to work on these surfaces for a long time. Consequently, the insulation sheet must be of high quality. When performing moisture-proof work, you should pay attention to the quality characteristics of the selected materials. Special popularity recently received special glue moisture proof materials. This is a roll type coating, which is based on modified polymers and bitumen. Waterproofing the floor in the shower without a pallet with their application is ideal.

The coating is laid hot or cold. There are self-adhesive options, which must be properly laid and pressed tightly to the surface. It is necessary to start work only after all the measurements have been taken.

Special hydro-lubricating compositions can also be used. They are very hardy and sturdy. This group includes polymeric and rubber mastics with the addition of bitumen, for example, or bitumen mastic.

To ensure good adhesion and elasticity, plasticizers can be added to the formulation. With a notched trowel, the mixture is spread over the surface.

Video: Waterproofing in the bathroom

When conducting moisture-proof work in the shower room, it is important to observe the installation and installation of all elements. It is necessary to properly connect the joints between walls, floors and drainage element. These places should be well waterproofed.

The waterproofing layer can be laid on the screed. It is fixed with such a cloth by sizing. Then you can lay a floor covering, for example, a tile.

Drain cavity can be built directly in the floor screed. There also fit all the elements of the drainage system. Free space is filled with concrete.

To create moisture insulation in the shower, the most common is polyethylene of special thickness or roofing material. The layer of the insulator is laid out on the floor, fixed and laid on it.

To check the operation of the system, pour a little water.

Estimated consumption:

  • 1.0 - 2.0 kg. on 1 square meter. - solvent base
  • 1.0 - 1.5 kg. on 1 square meter. - water based
  • 1,5 - 2,0 kg. on 1 square meter. - hot

When you need to install a shower enclosure without a pallet, for example, its presence is not provided for in the design, then here it is necessary to pay special attention to such aspect as waterproofing. This is a very important moment, and here everything must be done very qualitatively, in order to avoid the appearance of unpleasant surprises in the future.

Waterproofing must first of all protect the places of the shower enclosure, directly in contact with water, also called "wet shower zones". It should also be remembered that a reliable waterproofing of a shower enclosure that does not have a pallet prevents the water from getting to the floor, where it can easily penetrate to the neighbors from below - it's probably not necessary to tell about the consequences of such penetration.

Waterproofing for shower enclosure without pallet - features

Waterproofing for the installation of a shower enclosure without a pallet has its own nuances of installation - we will consider them in more detail. The very first stage in carrying out such work is the installation of a ladder, along which the water will flow. The drainage structure should be installed on a concrete base in a predetermined location, after which the drainage pipe can be poured with concrete, before connecting it to the sewage system.

Please note that the surface of the ladder body should be slightly below the floor level - this location will help to properly drain the water. To reliably seal the seams that will be between the floor and the ladder, it is best to use an elastic profile, and the sealing liner should be smeared with a special waterproof glue.

Preparing the base is also a very important point when installing a shower enclosure without a pallet. It is not uncommon for a situation where there are depressions, cracks or the surface is bumpy in the floor, then in this case it is necessary to fill the cement screed.

There are several types of waterproofing:

  • roll;
  • lubricating;
  • penetrating.

The old, and, accordingly, the most proven method is a roll-on waterproofing. It is considered reliable, efficient, and at the same time inexpensive solution. Here, roll self-adhesive or guided materials are used, the choice of which is quite wide on the market. Rolls must be rolled out beforehand and cut. This is not all - they should also give some time to lie down, which will achieve better coupling.

Strips should be placed with an overlap of approximately 10-15 centimeters, with the approach to the walls should be 15-20 centimeters. If you use a guided insulator in a shower without a pallet, then all joints must then be disheveled by a gas burner - this work should be done thoroughly, not hurrying, as this determines how good the waterproofing will be.

When stacking self-adhesive rolls, make sure that their edges are very tightly pressed against each other - while overlapping is pre-coated with special glue. Then the next layer is laid - it is placed across the first, and again the whole process is repeated. Do not forget to check each of the layers for the presence of air bubbles there, as well as directly on the quality of the gluing. If you notice a formed bubble - gently cut it and fill it with mastic or glue. The master decides on the number of layers independently, but according to the recommendations, at least 2 layers should be laid.

Lubricating waterproofing is a more modern method used for installing a shower enclosure without a pallet. Here, mastics are used, also called "liquid rubber" - the main component is bitumen. Polymer-cement compounds are another kind of materials used for lubricating waterproofing. Their distinctive feature is a very high elasticity - that is, when using polymer-cement compounds, no additional screed is needed.

Using these compounds, you should clean the floor of the debris, then slightly moisten its surface. The composition is thoroughly mixed, following the instructions of the instruction - the mixture must be brought to a homogeneous state. The solution is applied to the walls in the lower part of the shower cabin, and also to the floor.

In addition, the isolator should also lubricate the communication output points. Leave to dry the first layer - the drying time should be indicated in the instructions, after which we apply one more layer. To finishing works can be started only after the top layer has completely dried. There is no need to rush anywhere, since the result of all work depends on the quality of drying.

Penetrating waterproofing is currently the most modern method of preventing penetration of moisture into places where it should not penetrate. In this case, dry mixtures consisting of quartz sand, special cement, and active chemical additives - Penetron or its derivatives are used.

The principle of waterproofing here is based on the fact that the components of the mixture penetrate deep into the concrete structure and give the material hydrophobic properties. When using penetrating technology, the protective layer is formed directly in the concrete thickness, and not on its surface. In other words, the concrete itself is converted into a waterproofing material, which prevents penetration of moisture. It is important to remember that penetrating insulation is only used for concrete surfaces.

Having chosen this option, remember that it is necessary to follow the instructions clearly. In particular, first of all we clean the floor of the garbage, after which along the perimeter of the floor in the places of joints with the walls a fine of 25 to 25 millimeters is performed. Next, moisten the surface and seal the penetrating material with water, and then ground into the level with a penalty. After completely setting the suture, moisten the surface of the floor and the lower part of the walls. After the first layer of insulation has dried, it is moistened and then covered with a second layer. During the next 2-3 days, we continue moistening the surfaces. After 21 days after the application of insulation, we clean the walls and the floor of the residues of sand and cement, after which it is possible to proceed with the laying of the decorative coating.
